Learning‐Based Soft Robotic Grasping: Recent Progress and Remaining Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review analyzes learning‐based soft robotic grasping from a pipeline‐oriented perspective, encompassing soft gripper design, multimodal sensing, and learning‐based planning and control. It surveys key neural network architectures and benchmark datasets and identifies critical challenges such as sim‐to‐real transfer, generalization, and continual ...

Towards the necessity for debiasing natural language inference datasets

open access: yes, 2020
Modeling natural language inference is a challenging task. With large annotated data sets available it has now become feasible to train complex neural network based inference methods which achieve state of the art performance.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Incremental generative models for syntactic and semantic natural language processing

open access: yes, 2018
This thesis investigates the role of linguistically-motivated generative models of syntax and semantic structure in natural language processing (NLP). Syntactic well-formedness is crucial in language generation, but most statistical models do not account

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

Enhancing Parameter Efficiency in Model Inference Using an Ultralight Inter-Transformer Linear Structure

open access: yesIEEE Access
Pre-trained language models are the cornerstone of modern natural language processing and information retrieval. However, fine-tuning all the parameters reduces the efficiency of models both in training and inference owing to their increasingly heavy ...

Lightweight transformers for clinical natural language processing

open access: yes
Specialised pre-trained language models are becoming more frequent in Natural language Processing (NLP) since they can potentially outperform models trained on generic texts. BioBERT (Sanh et al., Distilbert, a distilled version of bert: smaller, faster,

A Perspective on Interactive Theorem Provers in Physics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Into an interactive theorem provers (ITPs), one can write mathematical definitions, theorems and proofs, and the correctness of those results is automatically checked. This perspective goes over the best usage of ITPs within physics and motivates the open‐source community run project PhysLean, the aim of which is to be a library for digitalized physics
