Light intensity and uniformity in commercial broiler houses using lighting programs derived from Global Animal Partnership (GAP) lighting standards

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2023
SUMMARY: Global Animal Partnership (GAP) is an organization that has created alternative standards for raising commercial broilers, including elevated light intensity and provisions for natural light.

Measuring the effect of architectural plan type and receiving natural light on residents’ sense of comfort in low-rise houses [PDF]

open access: yesمسکن و محیط روستا, 2022
The set of effects of natural light on humans can be examined in the two forms of psychological and biological processes. Today, people spend most of their life indoor during the day.

Comparison of commercial broiler house lighting programs using LED and natural light: Part 1—spatial and temporal analysis of light intensity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2022
SUMMARY: Responses to shifting consumer preferences and demands for alternative rearing programs have resulted in a re-evaluation of lighting programs by the commercial broiler industry. The objectives of this study were to compare light intensity levels,

Energy Demand of Supplementary Lighting in Agricultural Greenhouses: Solar Energy Utilization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Renewable Energy and Environment, 2022
Light is a critical parameter for plant growth such that providing enough light for the plant can ensure better quality and higher yield in greenhouses. In many areas, in the cold seasons of the year, not enough natural light reaches the plant.

Vortex knots in light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Optical vortices generically arise when optical beams are combined. Recently, we reported how several laser beams containing optical vortices could be combined to form optical vortex loops, links and knots embedded in a light beam (Leach et al 2004 ...

An insight into light as a chronobiological therapy in affective disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The field of chronobiology has vastly expanded over the past few decades, bringing together research from the fields of circadian rhythms and sleep. The importance of the environmental day–night cycle on our health is becoming increasingly evident as we ...

The accuracy of artificial and natural light measurements by actigraphs

open access: yes, 2020
Actigraphs are the reference standard for measuring light exposure in human non-laboratory experiments due to their portability and long battery lives.

Naturally light scalars [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1996
I argue that in certain chiral gauge theories composite scalars associated with chiral symmetry breaking can be light (i.e. lighter than naive scaling from QCD would suggest) without any fine-tuning. These scalars will be even lighter in chiral gauge theories that produce chiral symmetry breaking without confinement.
