Estimation of Natural Radionuclides' Concentration of the Plutonic Rocks in the Sakarya Zone, Turkey Using Multivariate Statistical Methods

open access: yesSymmetry, 2020
The study aimed to determine the natural radioactivity levels of 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K by the Gamma-Ray spectrometry method, and radiological hazard parameters of the plutonic rocks in the Western and Central Sakarya Zone and to analyze the data using ...

Programming Next‐Generation Synthetic Biosensors by Genetic Circuit Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Synthetic biology enables genetic circuit‐based biosensing to detect diverse targets, process signals, and transduce them into readable outputs or intracellular regulatory activities. However, field deployment and real‐world application of such synthetic biosensors face considerable challenges in sensitivity, specificity, speed, stability, and ...

Geoinformation modeling of radioactive contamination of territories on the example of mines of the “ShidGSK” mining and processing plant

open access: yesBiosystems Diversity
The aim of the study was to model the territorial distribution and statistical assessment of migration through the trophic chain of naturally occurring radionuclides released into the environment as a result of uranium ore mining.

Radium Speciation in Simulated Digestive Biofluids: Insights from Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Thermodynamic Modeling

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) combined with thermodynamic modeling provides the first direct characterization of radium speciation in synthetic gastrointestinal biofluids. Free Ra2+ ions predominate with minimal protein binding and negligible EDTA complexation. Crown ethers enable effective Ra complexation.

Natural radionuclides in mineral fertilizers and farmland [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinarski Glasnik, 2013
Contemporary agriculture production is based on use of mineral fertilizers, which however can have high activity of natural radionuclides and so cause the appearance of technologically elevated radioactivity.

Ascertaining the nature and timing of mire degradation : using palaeoecology to assist future conservation management in Northern England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This study was initiated under contract VT0419 from English Nature (Natural England) to CECQR. In 2015, additional funding was provided by the Yorkshire Peat Partnership, for 210Pb dating, to refine age–depth estimates.

Weathering processes and natural radionuclides

open access: yes, 2022
In managing our hydrological systems, increasing use is being made of information generated from studies held for understanding the controls on chemical weathering due to its importance in affecting the evolution of the Earth's surface, shaping landscapes, determining nutrient supply to ecosystems, and regulating global chemical cycles. A lot of recent

Under the Shade of a Coolabah Tree: A Second Cache of Tulas From the Boulia District, Western Queensland

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper reports on the excavation of a cache of stone artefacts, buried on the bank of a waterhole or ‘billabong’ in central western Queensland. This is an extremely rare find, and yet it is the second such site to be reported within less than a 10 km radius.

ACTIVITY CONCENTRATIONS OF NATURAL RADIONUCLIDES IN HAY AND GRASS FROM CERTAIN AREAS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

open access: yesVeterinaria, 2015
The amounts of natural radionuclides in the hay and grass from the city areas of Livno, Kakanj and Hadžići and the mountain Vlašić, were investigated in the research paper. Activity concentration of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th, 226Ra and 40K were
