Automatic simulation of ship navigation

Ocean Engineering, 2011
Automatic simulation programs of ship navigation can be a powerful tool for operational planning and design studies of waterways. In such a simulation system the key tasks of autonomous route-finding and collision-avoidance are performed by the simulation program itself with no or minimum intervention of a human navigator.

Traces of navigation as knowledge for simulating information retrieval by navigation in hypertext document

2010 Fourth International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Science (RCIS), 2010
Richness of current websites or hypermedia, the continuous evolution of them, can cause complexity in the structure of these hypermedia and some difficulties in navigation. From their early first design but also during their different evolution, it may be useful to test accessibility of offered information.

Development of a simulation tool for collaborative navigation systems

2017 14th Workshop on Positioning, Navigation and Communications (WPNC), 2017
Collaborative Positioning (CP) describes a technique in which a group of dynamic nodes (pedestrians, vehicles, etc.) equipped with different sensors can increase their precision of the Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT) information by exchanging navigation information as well as performing measurements between nodes or to elements of the ...

Visual Navigation in Simulated Pigeons

Proceedings of the Artificial Life Conference 2016, 2016
This research presents computational models to represent visual navigation mechanisms which guide pigeons (Columba Livia) during flight. A 3D graphics computer simulator was developed to model autonomous flight in virtual pigeons. The aim was to investigate the role of (i) visual landmarks (ii) flocking with other pigeons and (iii) image familiarity in

A simulation model for AUV navigation

Proceedings of IEEE Symposium on Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Technology (AUV'94), 2002
In this paper, a simulation model is developed to test AUV navigation applications. The simulation model consists of a canonical class of simulated object, multiple instances of which are related in a hierarchical manner, to model all physical objects that reside in a unified underwater environment.
