The Nazme : a Genre of Religious Poetry of the Eritrean Saho
Incontri linguistici : 37, 2014, 2014The Saho from Eritrea have developed a genre of Moslem religious poetry called nazme. Some examples of it are discussed in the paper, and particularly one of the few examples of Saho Ajami, i.e., of Saho written in an adapted form of the Arabic script. Its metrical and stylistic peculiarities are also discussed.
