Ancient tin production: Slags from the Iron Age Carvalhelhos hillfort (NW Iberian Peninsula) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Provenance and production of tin in the Ancient World has since long been a major topic of discussion among archaeologists. In Western Europe, where significant tin ore (cassiterite) deposits are known, only a few remains of ancient tin production, such ...

Investigating Unipolar Switching in Niobium Oxide Resistive Switches: Correlating Quantized Conductance and Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Memory devices based on resistive switching (RS) have not been fully realised due to lack of understanding of the underlying switching mechanisms. Nature of ion transport responsible for switching and growth of conducting filament in transition metal ...

Soybean oil transesterification: Study of using Nb2O5.xH2O as catalyst in biodiesel production

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2012
Economic and environmental reasons show a trend towards replacing fossil fuels with biofuels such as those from triglycerides. Biodiesel can be obtained from vegetable oils and animal fat through several processes such as transesterification ...

Titanium Coated with Graphene and Niobium Pentoxide for Biomaterial Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomaterials, 2022
Graphene and niobium oxide are used in biomaterial coatings. In this work, commercially pure titanium (cp Ti) was coated with graphene oxide (GO), niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5), and a mixture of both materials (NbGO) by the electrochemical deposition method.

Experimental comparison between Nb2O5- and TiO2-based photoconductive and photogating GFET UV detector

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In the present study, by adding graphene to a photoconductive photodetector with a niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) absorber layer and exploiting the photogating effect, the responsivity of the photodetector is significantly improved. In this photodetector, the

Titanium-niobium pentoxide composites for biomedical applications

open access: yesBioactive Materials, 2016
The strength of titanium scaffolds with the introduction of high porosity decreases dramatically and may become inadequate for load bearing in biomedical applications.

Metal organic framework supported niobium pentoxide nanoparticles with exceptional catalytic effect on hydrogen storage behavior of MgH2

open access: yesGreen Energy & Environment, 2023
Nb2O5 nanoparticles with an average particle size of 10 nm supported on a rhombic dodecahedral metal organic framework (MOF) were successfully synthesized by a facile one-pot hydrothermal reaction and subsequent calcination process.

Temperature‐Modulated Threshold Response in a Volatile Memristor: Toward a Biomimetic Polymodal Nociceptive System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an artificial polymodal nociceptor whose firing threshold is actively modulated by temperature. A volatile TiN/TiOx/ZnO/TiOx/ITO memristor shows interfacial ion–driven resistive switching and membrane‐potential‐like dynamics, enabling temperature‐dependent nociceptive behavior.
