Assessing Fluorosulfonyl Pentafluorooxosulfate (FSO2–OSF5) Reservoir Capacity: Selective SOF4, SO2F2, and [OSF5]– Anion Release

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 36, September 1, 2025.
Tidying away gases and anions. The complementary storage & in‐solution release of tetrafluoride (SOF4), sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2) and pentafluorooxosulfate (OSF5) anions was achieved. This was performed using fluorosulfonyl pentafluorooxosulfate (FSO2‐OSF5) a stable, high boiling liquid, obtained from SO2 and the pentafluorosulfur hypofluorite (FOSF5 ...

Enhancing Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke Via Normobaric Hyperoxia

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
BACKGROUND Recent advancements in animal studies have demonstrated the potential of normobaric hyperoxia (NBO) as a promising intervention for preserving the integrity of the blood–brain barrier (BBB). However, there is still limited understanding of the

Sol‐gel derived S53P4 bioactive glass

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Here, we report the first synthesis of amorphous sol‐gel bioactive glass of the S53P4 (53.8 mol% SiO2, 21.8 mol% CaO, 22.7 mol% Na2O, and 1.7 mol% P2O5) composition. Sol‐gel‐derived bioactive glasses have higher surface area and, therefore, biodegrade faster and have higher bioactivity compared to their melt‐derived counterparts.

C(sp2)─H Bond Activation with a Heterometallic Nickel–Aluminium Complex

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 36, September 1, 2025.
Despite the prevalence of Ni/Al catalysts for pyridine C─H functionalization, mechanistic details of such systems remain scarce. Herein, we present the discovery of PCy3‐catalyzed bond‐breaking and making processes that occur in the coordination sphere of a novel Ni─Al heterometallic complex.

Atomistic simulation of nanoscale phase separation in borosilicate glass melts

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Liquid–liquid phase separation in borosilicate glass significantly influences its mechanical, optical, and thermal properties, as seen in glasses like Pyrex. This study investigates nanometer‐sized phase separation in Na0.5Ca0.25BSiO4 (BNC25) borosilicate glass using a hybrid Monte Carlo/molecular dynamics simulation approach, focusing on ...
