Helium flashes through the NCO reaction [PDF]
It is generally accepted that the helium flash occurs when the 3α reaction commences in the degenerate helium core of low mass stars. In this core, original CNO isotopes have been converted into 14N and the electron Fermi energy becomes large enough to approach the threshold energy for e-capture on 14N. Hence Kaminisi et al.

The importance of NCO chain on the onset of the He-flash in degenerate physical conditions has been reevaluated. We find that low-mass, metal-rich (Z $\ge$ 0.001) structures climbing the Red Giant Branch do never attain the physical conditions suitable ...

Compactified NCOS and duality [PDF]
We study four-dimensional U(1) on a non-commutative T^2 with rational Theta. This theory has dual descriptions as ordinary SYM or as NCOS. We identify a set of massive non-interacting KK states in the SYM theory and track them through the various dualities. They appear as stretched strings in the non-commutative U(1) providing another example of the IR/

Cipher-image compression by using compressive sensing and interweaving permutation
Recently, compressing cipher images by using compressive sensing (CS) has attracted a lot of attention. However, the previous CS-based works cannot provide satisfactory compression performance.

Negative thermal expansion property of Eu0.8Sr0·2MnO3-δ
We firstly synthesized the novel negative thermal expansion (NTE) material Eu0.8Sr0·2MnO3-δ with superior physical properties by solid state method. Apart from the NTE properties, the micro constitution and structure are also presented.

Strong Correlations Produce the Curie-Weiss Phase of Na$_{x}$CoO$_2$ [PDF]
Within the t-J model we study several experimentally accessible properties of the 2D-triangular lattice system Na$_x$CoO$_2$, using a numerically exact canonical ensemble study of 12 to 18 site triangular toroidal clusters as well as the icosahedron ...

Mixed connective tissue disease — enigma variations? [PDF]
In 1972, Sharp and colleagues described a new autoimmune rheumatic disease which they called mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), characterized by overlapping features of systemic sclerosis (SSc), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), polymyositis ...

We study the phases of the 1+1 dimensional Non-Commutative Open String theory on a circle. We find that the length scale of non-commutativity increases at strong coupling, the coupling in turn being dressed by a power of D-string charge. The system is stringy at around this length scale, with dynamics involving an interplay between the open and wrapped
