Circulating hsa_circ_0072309, acting via the miR-100/ACKR3 pathway, maybe a potential biomarker for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of brain metastasis from non-small-cell lung cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Med, 2023
Abstract Background One of the main causes of lung cancer‐related death is brain metastasis (BM). Finding early indicators of BM derived from lung cancer is crucial. Therefore, this study was designed to determine if serum hsa_circ_0072309 may be employed as a potential biomarker for BM induced by non‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to understand ...

Comparison of Continuously Recorded Seismic Wavefields in Tectonic and Volcanic Environments Based on the Network Covariance Matrix

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 128, Issue 12, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Extended and sufficiently dense seismic networks capture spatiotemporal properties of the continuously recorded wavefields and can be used to compute the level of their coherence at different frequencies via the analysis of the network covariance matrix, which has been successfully used to study volcanic seismicity.

Digital ink and differentiated subjective ratings for cognitive load measurement in middle childhood

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Psychology, Volume 93, Issue S2, Page 368-385, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Background New methods are constantly being developed to adapt cognitive load measurement to different contexts. However, research on middle childhood students' cognitive load measurement is rare. Research indicates that the three cognitive load dimensions (intrinsic, extraneous, and germane) can be measured well in adults and teenagers using ...

mt‐Ty 5'tiRNA regulates skeletal muscle cell proliferation and differentiation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 56, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
tiRNAs are tRNA halves derived from cleavage of pre‐ or mature tRNAs. We identified and characterized a specific tiRNA group in skeletal muscle (mt‐Ty 5’tiRNAs). We determined that inhibition of mt‐Ty 5’tiRNAs reduced cell proliferation and myogenic differentiation.

Upregulated microRNA‐450b‐5p represses the development of acute liver failure via modulation of liver function, inflammatory response, and hepatocyte apoptosis

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 11, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
The upregulated miR‐450b‐5p blocks the progression of ALF via targeting MDM2. Abstract Objective It has been evidenced that microRNAs (miRs) exert crucial effects on acute liver failure (ALF), while the detailed function of miR‐450b‐5p in ALF progression remained obscure.

Broadening a nature of science conceptualization: Using school biology textbooks to differentiate the family resemblance approach

open access: yesScience Education, Volume 106, Issue 6, Page 1375-1407, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Previous research about the presence of nature of science (NOS) within science textbooks has been found to be lacking in sufficient coverage. However, given the shift in how scholars conceive of NOS, the shortcomings may not be present in the textbooks but rather in the NOS frameworks used to analyze textbooks.

The Radial Anisotropy of the Continental Lithosphere From Analysis of Love and Rayleigh Wave Phase Velocities in Fennoscandia

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 127, Issue 10, October 2022., 2022
Abstract Radial anisotropy (RA) in the upper mantle of the Fennoscandian Shield is analyzed by joint inversion of Love and Rayleigh wave phase velocities measured from recordings of teleseismic events at the ScanArray network. The phase velocities are measured by beamforming using three geographical subsets of the network as well as the full network ...

Heralds of Future Volcanism: Swarms of Microseismicity Beneath the Submarine Kolumbo Volcano Indicate Opening of Near‐Vertical Fractures Exploited by Ascending Melts

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2022., 2022
Abstract The Kolumbo submarine volcano in the southern Aegean (Greece) is associated with repeated seismic unrest since at least two decades and the causes of this unrest are poorly understood. We present a ten‐month long microseismicity data set for the period 2006–2007.
