Effect of inlet throttling on thermohydraulic instability in a large scale water-based RCCS: An experimental study

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
The objective of the present experimental study is to investigate the effect of inlet throttling on the thermohydraulic stability of a large scale water-based Reactor Cavity Cooling System (RCCS).

South African Air Force. Nominal Roll of Officers, Air W.O.'s, Air N.C.O.'s and Airmen.

open access: yesScientia Militaria, 2012
This contribution will take the reader back to 1922, in other words, to the time when our proud Air Force of today was still in its infancy. It was a year in which the young South African Air Force had to struggle with a multitude of problems.

Interfacial Charge‐Transfer Enhancement via High‐Entropy Alloy Regulated MXene Heterostructures for Asymmetric Supercapacitor Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A novel core‐shell HEA@MXene composite was synthesized to enhance supercapacitor electrochemistry. DFT simulations reveal the role of HEA doping in regulating the MXene interface. The HEA@MXene composite exhibits a high specific capacitance of 872 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 with remarkable stability in 1 M KOH.

On rapid migration and accretion within disks around supermassive black holes

open access: yes, 2011
Galactic nuclei should contain a cluster of stars and compact objects in the vicinity of the central supermassive black hole due to stellar evolution, minor mergers and gravitational dynamical friction.

Safety and Perioperative Outcomes of Immediate Versus Delayed Sequential Bilateral Cataract Surgery in the Pediatric Population: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEye &ENT Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Bilateral congenital cataracts are a major cause of preventable childhood blindness. Although delayed sequential bilateral cataract surgery (DSBCS) has traditionally been the preferred approach, immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery (ISBCS) is increasingly being considered to reduce anesthesia exposure and healthcare ...

Holography and D3-branes in Melvin Universes

open access: yes, 2006
Recently,in a paper hep-th/0511197, it was found that non-commutative super Yang-Mills (NCSYM) theory with space-dependent noncommutativity can be formulated as a decoupling limit of open strings ending on D3-branes wrapping a Melvin universe supported ...

On Theories With Light-Like Noncommutativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We show that field theories with light-like noncommutativity, that is with $\theta^{0i}=-\theta^{1i}$, are unitary quantum theories, and that they can be obtained as decoupled field theory limits of string theory with D-branes in a background NS-NS $B ...

Sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors and the risk of late onset epilepsy: A real‐world cohort study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Late onset epilepsy (LOE) is associated with substantial morbidity. Sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) may exert neuroprotective effects. This study evaluated the association between SGLT2i and risk of LOE among older adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Adss1–HDAC3 Interaction: A Novel Mechanism for Epigenetic Regulation of Metabolism in Adipose Tissue

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obesity and its related metabolic disorders have emerged as global public health challenges with underlying mechanisms involving an imbalance between energy storage and expenditure in the adipose tissue. In recent years, with the deepening research on adipose tissue metabolism, the cross talk between metabolic enzymes and epigenetic regulation

Circadian Immunity and Vascular Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease Chronotherapy Windows: Time for a Re‐Assessment

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circadian rhythms orchestrate cardiovascular physiology by regulating immune and inflammatory pathways. Disruption of these rhythms profoundly alters vascular homeostasis, thereby promoting the onset and progression of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
