The synthesis of 2‐methyl propellane and its conversion to various 1,2‐ and 1,2,3‐di‐ and trisubstituted bicyclopentanes is reported. Abstract Bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes (BCPs) have emerged as isosteric replacements for mono‐ and para‐substituted benzene rings in medicinal and materials applications, involving substitution at the BCP bridgehead (1,3 ...

Controlling meiotic recombinational repair - specifying the roles of ZMMs, Sgs1 and Mus81/Mms4 in crossover formation. [PDF]
Crossovers (COs) play a critical role in ensuring proper alignment and segregation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis. How the cell balances recombination between CO vs. noncrossover (NCO) outcomes is not completely understood.

Density of States and Tachyons in Open and Closed String Theory [PDF]
In this note we reexamine the possibility of constructing stable non-supersymmetric theories that exhibit an exponential density of states. For weakly coupled closed strings there is a general theorem, according to which stable theories with an ...

Low‐Temperature Initiation Enhances HCN and NH3 Formation From Methane and NO Over Pt/Al2O3
Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) was formed from CH4 and NO over Pt/Al2O3 at low temperatures. Increasing NO concentration and optimizing reaction‐start conditions significantly enhanced HCN yield. In situ FTIR and DXAFS measurements revealed that dynamically balancing Pt‑CO and Pt‑CN surface species, particularly their desorption under temperature‑swing ...

Comparison of competing market mechanisms with reinforcement learning in a carpooling scenario
In this paper a multi-agent simulation was implemented to analyze the dynamics of different market mechanisms with a Reinforcement Learning algorithm in the context of a carpooling market. The agents in the simulation, car owners (COs) and non car owners

We examine the extent to which the action for the membrane of M-theory (the eleven-dimensional construct which underlies and unifies all of the known string theories) simplifies in the so-called Open Membrane (OM) limit, a limit which lies at the root of

A sustainable alternative to steam cracking, the molten‐salt‐mediated oxidative dehydrogenation (MM‐ODH) of ethane (C2H6) in Li2CO3‐Na2CO3‐K2CO3 (LNK) couples thermal cracking with melt‐mediated CO2 capture to realize commercially competitive C2H4 and CO yields. LNK composition strongly influences MM‐ODH process outcomes.

Milli-second Oscillations in the Persistent and Bursting Flux of Aql X-1 During an Outburst [PDF]
The Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer observed the soft X-Ray transient Aql X-1 during its outburst in February and March 1997. We report the discovery of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in its persistent flux with frequencies in the range of 740 to 830 Hz,

A shock tube study of reactions of NCO with O and NO using NCO laser absorption
The absorption coefficient of NCO at 440.4790 nm (vac) was determined using a cw ring dye laser and shock-heated HNCO/N2O/Ar mixtures at temperatures and pressures ranging from 2180 K to 3070 K and 0.9 to 1.1 atmospheres, respectively. The source of NCO in these experiments was the reaction O+HNCO→OH+NCO (2a) where the O-atoms were produced by the ...
