On Theories With Light-Like Noncommutativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We show that field theories with light-like noncommutativity, that is with $\theta^{0i}=-\theta^{1i}$, are unitary quantum theories, and that they can be obtained as decoupled field theory limits of string theory with D-branes in a background NS-NS $B ...

Molten‐Salt‐Mediated Chemical Looping Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Ethane with In‐Situ Carbon Capture and Utilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
A sustainable alternative to steam cracking, the molten‐salt‐mediated oxidative dehydrogenation (MM‐ODH) of ethane (C2H6) in Li2CO3‐Na2CO3‐K2CO3 (LNK) couples thermal cracking with melt‐mediated CO2 capture to realize commercially competitive C2H4 and CO yields. LNK composition strongly influences MM‐ODH process outcomes.

South African Air Force. Nominal Roll of Officers, Air W.O.'s, Air N.C.O.'s and Airmen.

open access: yesScientia Militaria, 2012
This contribution will take the reader back to 1922, in other words, to the time when our proud Air Force of today was still in its infancy. It was a year in which the young South African Air Force had to struggle with a multitude of problems.

Flame‐Retardant Bio‐Based Thermo‐Flexible Phase‐Change Composites with Antivibration and Low‐Contact Resistance for Advanced Battery Thermal Management

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Flame‐retardant bio‐based thermo‐flexible phase‐change composites for advanced battery thermal management. Batteries face critical challenges in thermal management, including overheating risks, poor interfacial contact, and mechanical vibration–induced performance attenuation.

NCOS News - July 2021

open access: yes, 2021
The Cheadle Center at UCSB manages the North Campus Open Space (NCOS), which is a project that has restored 136 acres of upland and wetland habitats that existed before the area was converted into the Ocean Meadows Golf Course in the 1960s. The NCOS restoration project began in 2017 with a fine-scale grading of the site in order to recreate the salt ...

(1 + p)-Dimensional Open D(p - 2) Brane Theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The dynamics of a Dp brane can be described either by an open string ending on this brane or by an open D(p - 2) brane ending on the same Dp brane. The ends of the open string couple to a Dp brane worldvolume gauge field while the boundary of the open D ...

Ultra‐High Strength and Environmentally Stable Fluorinated Solid‐State Ion‐Conductive Elastomers with Folding‐Paper‐Structured Triboelectric Nanogenerators for Wave Energy Harvesting

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
In this work, a polyurethane‐based fluorinated SICEs with excellent mechanical properties (7.35 MPa and 61.4 MJ m−3), conductivity (4.2 × 10−4 S cm−1), and harsh environmental resistance were prepared by a “three birds with one stone” strategy that combines multiple interactions with fluorine effects. The paper‐folding TENG is capable of harvesting not

Caenorhabditis elegans RMI2 functional homolog-2 (RMIF-2) and RMI1 (RMH-1) have both overlapping and distinct meiotic functions within the BTR complex.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2021
Homologous recombination is a high-fidelity repair pathway for DNA double-strand breaks employed during both mitotic and meiotic cell divisions. Such repair can lead to genetic exchange, originating from crossover (CO) generation.
