An Overview of Nd:YAG Laser Capsulotomy.
It has been revealed that posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is the most common delayed complication of cataract surgery. On the other hand, Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy is accepted as standard treatment for PCO. Although, Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy is a noninvasive and safe treatment it carries risk of some complications.

Lens epithelial cell response to polymer stiffness and polymer chemistry
Abstract Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is the most common complication of cataract surgery, and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is the standard of care for cataract patients. Induction of postoperative epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in residual lens epithelial cells (LEC) is the main mechanism by which PCO forms.

Scanning Electron Microscopic of Intraocular Lens Pits after Nd:YAG Capsulotomy
A 69-year-old unstable and excessively mobile patient on the Nd:YAG laser, who inadvertently had multiple pitting of the intraocular lens (IOL) during several attempts of capsulotomy elsewhere, presented with reduced visual acuity of 20/200, halo and ...

Changes of intraocular lens position induced by Nd:YAG capsulotomy [PDF]
Aims. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in IOL position (axial shift, tilt and decentration) in the capsular bag after Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy and to create a user-friendly software that is optimized for the output of avail-able imaging

A new technique for Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy.
To investigate the effects of a new opening pattern in neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy on visual function. This technique was conducted along a circular pattern. The energy ranged between 0.8 and 1.2 mJ/pulse was consumed and mean total energy levels were 74±21 mJ (mean±standard deviation: SD, from 40 to 167) and ...

Background: This study aims to analyze the prevalence and severity of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and glistening in a new hydrophobic biaspheric monofocal intraocular lens (IOLs) 24 months after implantation. Methods: By means of a ambispective, observational, case‐control design, a total of 297 eyes from 200 cataract surgery patients were ...
