An Overview of Nd:YAG Laser Capsulotomy.

open access: yesMedical hypothesis, discovery & innovation ophthalmology journal, 2015
It has been revealed that posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is the most common delayed complication of cataract surgery. On the other hand, Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy is accepted as standard treatment for PCO. Although, Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy is a noninvasive and safe treatment it carries risk of some complications.

Lens epithelial cell response to polymer stiffness and polymer chemistry

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 62, Issue 9, Page 1820-1830, 1 May 2024.
Abstract Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is the most common complication of cataract surgery, and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is the standard of care for cataract patients. Induction of postoperative epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in residual lens epithelial cells (LEC) is the main mechanism by which PCO forms.

Scanning Electron Microscopic of Intraocular Lens Pits after Nd:YAG Capsulotomy

open access: yes, 2020
A 69-year-old unstable and excessively mobile patient on the Nd:YAG laser, who inadvertently had multiple pitting of the intraocular lens (IOL) during several attempts of capsulotomy elsewhere, presented with reduced visual acuity of 20/200, halo and ...

Changes of intraocular lens position induced by Nd:YAG capsulotomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Aims. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in IOL position (axial shift, tilt and decentration) in the capsular bag after Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy and to create a user-friendly software that is optimized for the output of avail-able imaging

A new technique for Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy.

open access: yesInternational journal of ophthalmology, 2014
To investigate the effects of a new opening pattern in neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy on visual function. This technique was conducted along a circular pattern. The energy ranged between 0.8 and 1.2 mJ/pulse was consumed and mean total energy levels were 74±21 mJ (mean±standard deviation: SD, from 40 to 167) and ...

Posterior Capsular Opacification and Glistening in Hydrophobic Monofocal Biaspheric Intraocular Lens Two Years After Implantation: A Case Control Study

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Background: This study aims to analyze the prevalence and severity of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and glistening in a new hydrophobic biaspheric monofocal intraocular lens (IOLs) 24 months after implantation. Methods: By means of a ambispective, observational, case‐control design, a total of 297 eyes from 200 cataract surgery patients were ...

Comparison of Preoperative Nd:YAG Laser Anterior Capsulotomy Versus Two-Stage Curvilinear Capsulorhexis in Phacoemulsification of White Intumescent Cataracts

open access: yes, 2009
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To compare the results of preoperative Nd:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy versus two-stage continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) in phacoemulsification of eyes with white intumescent cataracts and liquefied cortex.

The effect of posterior capsulotomy size on refraction and anterior chamber parameters following Nd:YAG laser treatment

open access: yes, 2018
To investigate the effect of capsulotomy size on refraction and anterior chamber parameters following Nd:YAG laser treatment. Fifty-six eyes of 56 pseudophakic patients with posterior capsular opacification (PCO) were reviewed. Patients were divided into

Corneal Endothelial Changes Following Early Capsulotomy Using Neodymium:Yttrium–Aluminum–Garnet Laser

open access: yes, 2022
We aimed to survey whether the timing of neodymium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet (Nd:YAG) laser capsulotomy would alter the corneal endothelial morphology and density.
