Varying the dietary supply of C and N to manipulate the manure composition of water buffalo heifers in Oman

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2012
Optimizing the composition of manure has the potential to reduce nutrient losses to the environment and to increase crop yields. In this study the effect of dietary ratios of carbon (C) to nitrogen (N) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) to soluble ...

Assessment of the Predictive Accuracy of the Small Ruminant Nutrition System for Nutrient Digestibility and Energy Requirements in Goats in Early Lactation

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the predictions of the small ruminant nutrition system (SRNS) for the digestibility of dietary nutrients and the energy requirements of goats in early lactation. Forty‐eight Alpine goats were assigned to a completely randomized design. During 8 weeks of lactation, six goats were slaughtered per week.

Ruminant Beslemede NDF ve ADF'nin Önemi

open access: yes, 2014
Hayvan beslemede kullanılan kaba yemler yapısal olan (selüloz, lignin, hemiselüloz) ve olmayan karbonhidratlardan (organik asitler, şekerler) oluşur. Monogastrik hayvanlar kaba yemlerdeki bu yapısal karbonhidratları sindiremezken, ruminatlar selülotik mikroorganizmalar sayesinde bu yapısal karbonhidratları sindirebilmektedirler.

Influence of Inclusion of Cactus Pear in Senna obtusifolia Haylage on Nutritional, Ruminal, and Metabolic Parameters of Sheep

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study evaluated the effects of increasing levels of cactus pear (Opuntia spp.) included in haylage of Senna obtusifolia on intake, ingestive behavior, nutrient digestibility, nitrogen balance, ruminal and blood parameters, and performance of fattening sheep.

Agronomic Traits, Physiological Parameters, Chemical Composition, and In Vitro Digestibility of Urochloa Brizantha Cv. Piatã, Megathyrsus Maximus Cv. Zuri and Megathyrsus Maximus Cv. Tamani in Silvopastoral Systems

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
Urochloa species are widely used in silvopastoral systems (SPS), but production losses highlight the need for more productive forages. This study evaluated agronomic, physiological, chemical composition, and in vitro digestibility responses of Urochloa brizantha cv. Piatã and Megathyrsus maximus cvs.

Effects of Lactic Acid Bacteria on Fermentation Quality and Microbiome of Leymus chinensis Silage

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
Ensiled Leymus chinensis are an important feedstuff for ruminants in large parts of the world. These results suggested that the addition of Lactobacillus plantarum or Lactobacillus buchneri regulated the ensiling performance by shaping the microbial community and metabolic pathways.

Estimation of Fiber Fragility and Digestibility of Corn Silages and Cool Season Pastures

open access: yesAgriculture
Fiber fragility is defined as the particle size reduction rate during chewing and can help to explain the effects on feed intake and animal performance of different fiber sources.

Strain‐Specific Fermentation Performance of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated From Maize and Napier Fodder During Maize Ensiling

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
Isolation and identification of lactic acid bacteria from maize and Napier fodder and silage using physiological and biochemical tests, and Sanger sequencing. The isolated strains of Limosilactobacillus fermentum BLRI 1 and Bacillus subtilis BLRI 24 were utilised as an inoculant in maize silage.

Importance Sampling of the Micrograin Visible NDF

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum
AbstractImportance sampling of visible normal distribution functions (vNDF) is a required ingredient for the efficient rendering of microfacet‐based materials. In this paper, we explain how to sample the vNDF for the micrograin material model [LRPB23], which has been recently improved to handle height‐normal correlations through a new Geometric ...

Performance of Beef Cattle Under Grazing as Affected by Urochloa decumbens Cultivars

open access: yesGrass and Forage Science, Volume 81, Issue 2, April-June 2026.
ABSTRACT Testing animal performance under grazing is fundamental to determine the potential of recently released, high‐yielding Urochloa decumbens hybrids. The objective was to evaluate the weight gain of young bulls grazing on pastures of U. decumbens cultivars Basilisk, BRS Carinás, and BRS Poraitê, as well as to assess the nutritive value and plant ...
