Application of Near-Field Scanning Microwave Microscopy in Liquid Environment

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this article, a method of illustrating the electromagnetic properties of liquid specimens is proposed by our homemade near-field scanning microwave microscopy (NSMM).

Near field plasmon and force microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesUltramicroscopy, 1995
A scanning plasmon near field optical microscope (SPNM) is presented which combines a conventional far field surface plasmon microscope with a stand-alone atomic force microscope (AFM). Near field plasmon and force images are recorded simultaneously both with a lateral resolution limited by the probe size to about 20 nm.

Near-field optical microscopy toward its applications for biological studies

open access: yesBiophysics and Physicobiology, 2023
Near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) is a super-resolution optical microscopy based on nanometrically small near-field light at a metallic tip. It can be combined with various types of optical measurement techniques, including Raman spectroscopy,

Microwaves Are Everywhere: “SMM: Nano-Microwaves”

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2021
If the Twentieth Century boasted of the Space Age and the Computer Age, the Twenty-First Century is certainly starting off with the Age of Biology, or at least Biochemistry. The enormous impact of CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic

Label-Free Observation of Micrometric Inhomogeneity of Human Breast Cancer Cell Density Using Terahertz Near-Field Microscopy

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
Terahertz-light imaging is attracting great attention as a new approach in non-invasive/non-staining biopsy of cancerous tissues. Positively, terahertz light has been shown to be sensitive to the cell density, the hydration content, and the chemical ...

Anisotropic Generation and Detection of Surface Plasmon Polaritons Using Near-Field Apertured Probes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
Most recent studies centered on light-matter interactions at the nanoscale rely on near-field microscopy. Despite this, few works have been reported to date regarding the anisotropic generation of surface plasmons polaritons on metallic surfaces.

Near-Field Microwave Microscopy for 3D Surface Assessment of Manufactured Structures

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2023
Using near-field scanning microwave microscopy as a contact and non-contacting investigative tool for 3D surface metrology with three differing measurement modes, it has been possible to analyse structures that may be difficult for existing metrology ...

Near-field scanning optical microscopy nanoprobes

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2012
Near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) is a powerful method for the optical imaging of surfaces with a resolution down to the nanometer scale. By focusing an external electromagnetic field to the subwavelength aperture or apex of a sharp tip, the ...

Photoconductive NSOM for mapping optoelectronic phases in nanostructures

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2014
The advent of optically functional materials with low-intensive processing methods is accompanied by a growing need for high resolution imaging to probe the inherent inhomogeneities in the underlying microstructure.
