VR models of death and psychedelics: an aesthetic paradigm for design beyond day-to-day phenomenology

open access: yesFrontiers in Virtual Reality
Near-death experiences (NDEs) and psychedelic drug experiences (YDEs) enable access to dimensions of non-ordinary sensation, perception, and insight beyond typical day-to-day phenomenology.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Dualistic Interpretation of "Near-Death Experiences” in the Crucible of Thought Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesتاریخ فلسفه اسلامی
Dualistic interpretations of near-death experiences (NDEs) are based on evidence such as experiencing distant places, gaining awareness of the past, present, and future, and seeing beyond physical objects. From this perspective, these experiences are not

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

From patient advocacy to patient‐driven research: Building active partnerships beginning at the bench to reach the bedside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Research is strongest when conducted alongside patients, not just about them. Patient research organizations help integrate patient perspectives into research priorities, study design, and scientific meetings, leading to meaningful patient outcomes and development of relevant therapies.

Five‐Year Outcomes of Laparoscopic Sphincter‐Preserving Surgery for Rectal Cancer: A Prospective Study in Elderly Vietnamese Patients

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This prospective study demonstrates that laparoscopic sphincter‐preserving surgery is feasible for elderly patients. While overall survival reaches 70% at 5 years, advanced T‐stage and the omission of neoadjuvant therapy significantly drive recurrence, highlighting the need for personalized geriatric protocols despite logistical challenges.
