Effect of Repetitive Sub-concussive Head Impacts on Ocular Near Point of Convergence

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016
This study intended to examine effects of repetitive sub-concussive head impacts on ocular near point of convergence (NPC). 20 healthy young adult soccer players were assigned to either a heading or control group. Heading subjects completed 10 headers of soccer balls projected at a speed of 11.2 m/s. Control subjects did not perform heading.

Comparing Patient- and Clinician-Administered Near Point of Convergence After Concussion

Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, 2021
Objective: (1) To compare patient- and clinician-administered measurements of near point of convergence (NPC) distance including the percentage of patients exceeding clinical cutoffs among concussed adolescents and (2) to assess the reliability of patient- and clinician-measured NPC distances. Methods: A total of 762 patients (mean = 15.51, SD = 3.09 y)

Near Point of Convergence Norms Measured in Elementary School Children

Optometry and Vision Science, 2007
Convergence insufficiency (CI) is the most prevalent of binocular dysfunctions. A prime finding in the diagnosis of CI is the near point of convergence (NPC).The NPC was measured six different times on the same 539 children, once in the fall and once in the spring, over the course of 3 years.

Effect of 3-Dimensional Central Stimuli on Near Point of Convergence

Strabismus, 2015
Since an interaction between binocular disparity and the vergence system takes place in order to reduce retinal disparity, it is likely that vergence control, as measured with the near point of convergence (NPC), will be better if the target used for measurement has 3-dimensional (3-D) features in its most central parts.

Receded near point of convergence and gait are associated after concussion

British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2017
ObjectiveTo examine post-concussion gait among patients with and without receded near point of convergence (NPC) and uninjured controls.DesignProspective observational study.SettingRegional sport-concussion clinic.ParticipantsThirty-one patients presented 10.1 [95% CI=8.1, 12.1] days post-concussion (57% female, age=16.5 [15.4, 17.7]); 38 controls were

To Investigate the Near Point of Convergence (NPC) in Hyperopic Children

2022
Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate the Near point of Convergence (NPC) in hyperopic children. Methods: The subjects comprised of school-going 76 children aged 5-14 years. The NPC was measured with the help of Royal Air Force (RAF) ruler. Refractive error is defined based on the spherical equivalent (SE) of cycloplegic refraction.

Acute Effect of Caffeine on Amplitude of Accommodation and Near Point of Convergence

West African Journal of Pharmacology and Drug Research, 2008
Caffeine is widely consumed in kola nuts and in other products in Sub-Saharan Africa. We examined the acute effect of caffeine on the amplitude of accommodation and near point of convergence of healthy Nigerians. Forty volunteers between ages of 20 and 27 years with refractive power± 0.50 DS were employed.
