Microstructure Characteristics and Strength–Ductility Mechanisms of a Novel Neutron Shielding Al‐6Mg‐5Gd Alloy Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Al‐based neutron shielding materials suffer from poor laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processibility, hindering their simultaneous achievement of good printability and exceptional mechanical properties. In this work, the newly developed rare‐earth Al alloy (i.e., Al‐6Mg‐5Gd) was processed by LPBF technique to meet the printability, mechanical ...

Ecological Impacts of Chemical Fumigants on Nematode Community Composition

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Chemical fumigants impact nematode diversity, community composition and nematode‐based indices. ABSTRACT Soil fumigation is widely used to control targeted plant‐parasitic nematodes in agricultural systems, but how they affect nematode communities and nematode‐based indices (NBIs) has remained underexplored.

Laser‐Etched Microgroove Structure Induces Superhydrophobic Transition of Electrode Surface to Promote Efficient Reduction of CO2 to Multicarbons at High Current Density

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
We employ high‐power laser etching to construct a superhydrophobic Cu2O electrode, enabling systematic interrogation of the microenvironment‐activity relationship. This work establishes a framework for tailoring gas diffusion electrode architectures to directionally modulate the CO2RR microenvironment, offering new routes to enhance selectivity and ...

Production and Multi‐Criteria Evaluation of Healthy White Cheese Snacks Using Microwave‐Vacuum Drying

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Microwave‐assisted vacuum drying (MVD) is an emerging technology suitable for producing healthy snack foods, such as cheese snacks. This study aimed to produce a low‐fat, low‐salt, crunchy cheese snack using MVD. Low‐fat, low‐salt cheese slices were dried under seven different combinations of microwave power (5%–15%), vacuum level (220–300 ...

Deciphering the properties and reaction mechanism of anhydromevalonate phosphate decarboxylase, a prenylated flavin mononucleotide‐dependent enzyme in the archaeal mevalonate pathway

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 11, Page 3303-3319, June 2026.
Characterization of anhydromevalonate phosphate decarboxylase, the UbiD‐family decarboxylase involved in the archaeal mevalonate pathway, was conducted. The enzyme is responsible for the biosynthesis of isoprenoids, such as archaeal membrane lipids, respiratory quinones, and dolichols.

A Common Reference Material for Mass‐Dependent Sn Isotope Compositions: An Inter‐Laboratory Calibration Approach

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 50, Issue 2, Page 341-367, June 2026.
Key Points We recommend using the notation δ122/118SnNIST SRM 3161a for mass‐dependent Sn isotope data. We derived conversion factors relative to NIST SRM 3161a for Puri Sn CEZA (0.132 ± 0.011‰), Sn Lyon (0.229 ± 0.016‰), Sn IPGP (0.162 ± 0.018‰). Tin isotope compositions are presented for SPEX CertiPrep Sn and nine USGS reference materials.

Phase Diagrams of Ternary and Multicomponent Rare‐Earth Sesquioxide (RE2O3) Systems (RE = All Lanthanides, Y, and Sc)

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive CALPHAD‐based thermodynamic framework was developed to predict the phase diagrams and thermodynamic properties of ternary and multicomponent RE2O3 systems using the optimized model parameters of the unary and binary RE2O3 systems.
