Potential Trophic Competition Between the European Perch Perca fluviatilis and Pikeperch Sander lucioperca

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 111, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The European perch Perca fluviatilis and pikeperch Sander lucioperca can co‐occur, potentially competing for food resources. However, few studies have addressed the potential feeding competition between these species. We used carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analysis to assess the potential trophic competition between these species in two ...

Perennial Sainfoin Seeds as an Emerging Plant‐Based Food: Effects of Thermal Processing on Nutritional Quality, Sensory Properties, Toxicity, and Immunoreactivity

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia L.) seeds exhibit a high nutrient density, containing approximately 42% protein, 9% fat, and 45% dietary fiber. This study investigated the potential of sainfoin seeds as a food source by subjecting them to conventional processing methods, including hot air and blanching, as well as infrared treatment, which is known for
