Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

CLINICAL CASE OF ARTERIO-VENOUS MALFORMATION OF NECK AS AN INCIDENTAL FINDING

open access: yesИнновационная медицина Кубани, 2019
Arterio-venous malformations are rather rare findings but sometimes they result in neurologic complications and lethality. These diseases quite often manifest with hemorrhages, cerebral seizures (in cases with intracranial locations).Modern diagnostic ...

Immature congenital teratoma of the neck: a very rare entity

open access: yesPAMJ Clinical Medicine, 2019
Congenital teratoma is a very rare tumor, affecting the neck in 3% of all cases. The diagnosis should be performed in antenatal by ultrasonography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The risk of neonatal respiratory distress is very important. We present

Is traumatic and non-traumatic neck pain associated with brain alterations? : a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Chronic neck pain affects 50% - 85% of people who have experienced an acute episode. This transition and the persistence of chronic complaints are believed to be mediated by brain alterations among different central mechanisms.

Immediate Effects of Cervical Spine Thrust Joint Manipulation on Gait Parameters in Individuals with Neck Pain

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose/Hypotheses: 1. To investigate for any change in gait parameters in individuals with neck pain while walking with different functional neck conditions immediately following cervical thrust joint manipulation (TJM) versus a sham intervention. 2. To

The occipital lateral plate mesoderm is a novel source for vertebrate neck musculature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In vertebrates, body musculature originates from somites, whereas head muscles originate from the cranial mesoderm. Neck muscles are located in the transition between these regions.

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...
