Dynamical invariants and parameter space structures for rational maps [PDF]
For parametrized families of dynamical systems, two major goals are classifying the systems up to topological conjugacy, and understanding the structure of the bifurcation locus.

Signatures of Topological Defects
We argue that due to various restrictions cosmic strings and monopole-string networks are not likely to produce the observed flux of ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR). Among the topological defects studied so far, the most promising UHECR sources are

ABSTRACT This study focuses on two terracotta incense burners discovered in the Daba Al‐Bayah necropolis in the Musandam Peninsula (Oman), associated with an Iron Age collective tomb (LCG‐2). Through gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC‐MS), the organic residues preserved within these artifacts were analyzed to investigate their use and ...

Using shells in the cult and economic activities of ancient population
The article is dedicated to one of the aspects of symbolic activities of ancient population regarding the use of a rare variety of natural material. From ancient times, shells, as bright and unusual material, served for making jewelry: bead necklaces and

Polytopal complexes: maps, chain complexes and... necklaces
The notion of polytopal map between two polytopal complexes is defined. Surprisingly, this definition is quite simple and extends naturally those of simplicial and cubical maps.

ABSTRACT New radiocarbon determinations from rice grains and bamboo have been obtained from Non Ban Jak, Northeast Thailand. These, along with charcoal, date a late Iron Age building sequence. The results come from short‐lived species and charcoal with potential inbuilt age. We built a series of Bayesian models to obtain a reliable chronology.

Bronze Jewellery from the Early Iron Age urn-field in Mała Kępa. An approach to casting technology
This study characterizes the bronze jewellery recovered from the Lusatian culture urn-field in Mała Kępa (Chełmno land, Poland). Among many common ornaments (e.g.

Thinking Inside the Box: Considerations for Putting Data Physicalization Workshops in a Box
Abstract Visualization researchers utilize workshops both for applied research and to engage different populations with visualization‐based activities. While there are many benefits to running visualization workshops, their utility and impact rely on the presence of a researcher who has deep knowledge about visualization theory and practice.

Formation of optimal-order necklace modes in one-dimensional random photonic superlattices
We study the appearance of resonantly coupled optical modes, optical necklaces, in Anderson localized one-dimensional random superlattices through numerical calculations of the accumulated phase.
