Necrotizing pancreatitis

2023
In recent years, the treatment of acute pancreatitis has significantly improved. However, there is still room for improvement, especially on rarer and less known complications, which is the focus of this dissertation. Approximately 20% of patients develop necrotizing pancreatitis, where the pancreas or the surrounding fat tissue dies.

Acute necrotizing pancreatitis

The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1974
A simple, easily reproducible model of experimental pancreatitis is presented. By means of a catheter implanted in the pancreas, interstitial injections were performed in order to produce acute pancreatitis in guinea pigs. Injection of a sodium taurocholate solution with 50 mg/ml cephalothin produced lethal necrotizing pancreatitis similar to that ...

Surgical Management of Necrotizing Pancreatitis

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1989
The most important diagnostic step in the management of patients with severe acute pancreatitis is the discrimination between acute interstitial and necrotizing pancreatitis. Measurement of C-reactive protein, lactic acid dehydrogenase, alpha-1-antitrypsin, and alpha-2-macroglobulin and contrast-enhanced CT are useful in detecting the necrotizing ...

[Necrotizing pancreatitis].

Ugeskrift for laeger, 1995
Acute pancreatitis is in the majority of patients a mild, self-limiting illness. Secondary infection of the pancreatic necrosis (infected pancreatic necrosis) is the main cause of death. Pancreatic necrosis is identified

Lactoferrin in Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis

Digestion, 2009
Lactoferrin, as measured in the pancreatic juice, has been thought to be of diagnostic value in chronic pancreatitis, but due to the hazards in cannulation of the pancreatic duct in the acute phase of pancreatitis the behavior of lactoferrin has remained obscure.

SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF NECROTIZING PANCREATITIS

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1999
In necrotizing pancreatitis, surgical treatment is indicated in patients with infected necrosis. Conservative management should be favored if necrosis remains sterile and the patient responds to intensive care therapy. Different surgical techniques have been established during the past years, including conventional drainage, open and semiopen drainage,

Ablative surgery for necrotizing pancreatitis

The American Journal of Surgery, 1976
We have confirmed again that bile and trypsin injected in dogs under high pressure produce highly lethal necrotizing pancreatitis responsive to fluid resuscitation. Animals undergoing pancreatectomy show a reduction in serum amylase levels and hemoconcentration (reflected in hematocrit levels) after pancreatectomy, an effect that may be related to ...
