Failure of Penicillin in Anaerobic Necrotizing Pneumonia
Chest, 1982Penicillin is considered to be the drug of choice in anaerobic pulmonary infections. The patient presented here illustrates some of the reasons for the failure of penicillin therapy in an anaerobic necrotizing pneumonia. Experimental and clinical evidence to date suggests a need for reappraisal of penicillin therapy in such infections.
