Cutaneous Phosphorylated Alpha‐Synuclein in Lewy Body Dementia
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the test performance of cutaneous phosphorylated alpha‐synuclein (P‐SYN) in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), individuals with reduced Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and healthy controls. Methods This is the first subgroup analysis of the Synuclein‐One study, a prospective, blinded study evaluating P‐SYN detection ...

Patterns of Postictal Abnormalities in Relation to Status Epilepticus in Adults
ABSTRACT Objective Abnormalities on peri‐ictal diffusion‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI‐PMAs) are well‐established for patients with status epilepticus (SE), but knowledge on patterns of DWI‐PMAs and their prognostic impact is sparse. Methods This systematic review and individual participant data meta‐analysis included observational studies ...

Neuropsychiatric Symptoms Mimicking Dementia in a Patient Treated With Imatinib
ABSTRACT Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are the cornerstone of chronic myeloid leukemia treatment. Newer agents have more potency and a broader spectrum of action, but also a higher potential for neuropsychiatric side effects. We present a case of a patient on imatinib who developed progressive cognitive, mood, and behavioral alterations.

The relationship between need for cognition (NFC) and measures of both personality and intelligence was investigated. Study 1 (N = 195) addressed recent concerns over item-polarity effects in NFC scales. With these effects removed, a reworded 34-item NFC scale showed evidence of multidimensionality.

Need for Cognition and Irrational Beliefs
Psychological Reports, 1997A total of 149 college students, 48 men and 101 women, completed the Irrational Beliefs and the Need for Cognition scales to assess irrationality and the tendency to engage in effortful cognitive activity. Although substantial overlap between the constructs was found ( r = –.29, p < .001), the relationship was not linear. Need for Cognition appears

Need for cognition moderates cognitive effort aversion
2023AbstractWhen making decisions, humans aim to maximize rewards while minimizing costs. The exertion of mental or physical effort has been proposed to be one those costs, translating into avoidance of behaviors carrying effort demands. This motivational framework also predicts that people should experience positive affect when anticipating demand that is

Curiosity and Need for Cognition
Psychological Reports, 1984The present study hypothesized that individuals' need for cognition, which describes the dispositional tendency to engage in and enjoy thinking, would be related to questionnaire measures of curiosity for 148 adults. Scores on the Need for Cognition Scale were correlated with eight commonly used measures of curiosity of adults. With one exception, all
