A feasibility study on using inkjet technology, micropumps, and MEMs as fuel injectors for bipropellant rocket engines

open access: yes, 2008
Control over drop size distributions, injection rates, and geometrical distribution of fuel and oxidizer sprays in bi-propellant rocket engines has the potential to produce more efficient, more stable, less polluting rocket engines.

Internal and near nozzle flow characteristics in an enlarged model of an outwards opening pintle-type gasoline injector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The internal nozzle and near the nozzle exit flows of an enlarged transparent model of an outwards opening injector were investigated for different flow rates and needle lifts under steady state flow conditions.

Pellet Printing for Soft Robotic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fused Granulate Fabrication (FGF) is established here as a reliable method for fabricating soft, airtight robotic devices. Through coordinated optimization of hardware, material selection, and process parameters, this approach enables high‐speed printing of thermoplastic elastomers with silicone‐like softness and modulus.

Antimisting kerosene: Low temperature degradation and blending [PDF]

open access: yes
The inline filtration characteristics of freshly blended and degraded antimisting fuels (AMK) at low temperature are examined. A needle valve degrader was modified to include partial recirculation of degraded fuel and heat addition in the bypass loop.

Multimodal Multiorgan‐on‐a‐Chip Platform for Probing Liver‐Tumor Interactions and Advancing Prodrug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a multimodal multi‐OoC platform that overcomes current limitations in liver‐tumor interaction studies and prodrug screening. By integrating dynamic microfluidic circuits, electrochemical sensing, and mass analysis, this platform enables non‐invasive, longitudinal monitoring of drug metabolism and hepatotoxicity, offering a ...

Modeling the separation of water‐in‐oil emulsions in continuously fed gravity settlers using millifluidic experiments

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Emulsion separation remains a persistent challenge in chemical and process industries due to the metastable nature of dispersed droplets. In gravity separators, the overall separation rate is governed by the formation of a densely packed zone (DPZ) of deforming and coalescing droplets that mediates between the dispersed and continuous phases ...

Isovolumic relaxation strain imaging is an accurate and sensitive approach for detection of active diastolic dysfunction: A preclinical study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A modified approach was developed to accurately identify the isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRT) using an apical three‐chamber view. Compared with conventional echocardiography, isovolumic relaxation strain imaging (IVSI) helps to detect the earlier alternations of diastolic function in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mice.

Arresting bubble coarsening: A two-bubble experiment to investigate grain growth in presence of surface elasticity

open access: yes, 2017
Many two-phase materials suffer from grain-growth due to the energy cost which is associated with the interface that separates both phases. While our understanding of the driving forces and the dynamics of grain growth in different materials is well ...

Ultra‐High‐Efficiency On‐Chip CO2 Conversion by Nanosecond Self‐Pulsing Micro‐Plasma Devices

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A micro‐plasma chip with sub‐10‐μm electrode gaps is introduced for efficient CO2‐to‐CO conversion. The device self‐converts a DC power supply into nanosecond pulses, producing field‐emission electrons that vibrationally excite CO2, driving dissociation via the ladder‐climbing mechanism. A scaled‐up chip array achieves 30% single‐pass conversion and 50%
