Adaptation of White Adipocytes to Cooler Temperatures: Impacts on Energy Metabolism and Protein Acetylation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 15, 15 August 2026.
Cultured white adipocytes exposed to 31°C undergo cell‐autonomous metabolic adaptation characterized by enhanced mitochondrial function and widespread remodeling of the mitochondrial acetylome. Acetyl‐proteomic and metabolomic profiling identified mitochondria‐associated proteins, including SHMT2 and PCCA, whose acetylation changes were linked to ...

Haemorrhagic risk of transperineal ultrasound‐guided prostate biopsy performed under continued antithrombotic therapy

open access: yesBJUI Compass, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Objectives This study aims to evaluate the safety of transperineal prostate biopsy performed with continued antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapies under caudal anaesthesia. Patients and Methods A total of 620 consecutive patients who underwent transperineal ultrasound‐guided prostate biopsy at a tertiary care centre in Japan from March 2023 ...

Composite membranes comprising of polymeric and molecular amines embedded in poly(vinyl alcohol) matrices to facilitate CO2/H2 separation

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 4453-4463, August 2026.
Polymeric and molecular amines embedded in hygroscopic matrices to facilitate CO2 transport for CO2/H2 separation. Abstract This work dealt with composite membranes comprising of polyvinylamine (PVAm) and triethylenetetramine (TETA) embedded in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) for CO2/H2 separation via facilitated transport of CO2, where polymeric and ...

Spiralitermes jurupari, a New Genus and Species of Soldierless Termites (Blattodea: Termitidae) From the Amazon Rainforest

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The soldierless termites of Apicotermitinae exhibit highly varied digestive tract morphology, with the first proctodeal segment being one of the most commonly used features in genus diagnosis. In this study, we describe Spiralitermes jurupari Almeida‐Azevedo & Azevedo gen. et sp. nov., from the Amazon Rainforest.

Diltiazem N‐oxide, a novel ischaemia‐activated prodrug, prevents ischaemia‐induced ventricular fibrillation without off‐target adverse effects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4646-4662, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Ventricular fibrillation (VF) in coronary heart disease accounts for up to 70% of sudden cardiac death. We examined whether diltiazem N‐oxide (DNO) has ischaemia‐selective antiarrhythmic activity. Experimental Approach Randomised and blinded experiments were performed in rat isolated hearts and in anaesthetised rats to ...

Primary cardiac T‐cell rich large B‐cell lymphoma causing aortic stenosis with metastasis in a Warmblood

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 8, Page e488-e495, August 2026.
Summary An 18‐year‐old Warmblood mare was presented to the Royal Veterinary College Equine Referral Hospital for investigation of progressive periocular and facial swelling, weight loss and tachycardia. Physical examination additionally identified bilateral pansystolic (grade 5/6 basilar left‐sided, 2/6 right‐sided), cardiac murmurs, submandibular ...

Rapid dehydration drives a nondiffusional drop in C3 photosynthesis that aligns with phosphate limitation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 3, Page 1127-1142, August 2026.
Schematic representation of the causal sequence through which rapid water loss imposes diffusive and nondiffusive restrictions on carbon assimilation. Summary Drought is an abnormally prolonged water deficit posing major challenges to plants. Stomatal closure has long been considered the primary factor limiting photosynthesis during the early stages of

Establishment of a Purge and Trap Continuous‐Flow Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer System for Analysis of Stable Nitrate Isotopes (δ15N and δ18O) in Water Samples by Ti(III) Reduction

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 14, 30 July 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Pollution of surface and shallow groundwater by nitrate (NO3−$$ {\mathrm{NO}}_3^{-} $$) is a global concern, resulting in the deterioration of drinking water quality. Stable isotopes of NO3−$$ {\mathrm{NO}}_3^{-} $$ (δ15N and δ18O) can be used to trace its sources and identify prevailing biogeochemical processes.

Direct NMR Evidence of Distinct Cation‐CO2 Adducts in Asymmetric Phosphonium‐Based Aprotic N‐Heterocyclic Anion (AHA) Ionic Liquids

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
An in situ NMR method using isotopically enriched 13CO2 reveals regioisomeric cation‐CO2 adducts in asymmetric phosphonium‐based aprotic N‐heterocyclic anion ionic liquids. Two distinct carboxylate species, formed at chemically nonequivalent α‐carbons, are unambiguously identified and quantified.
