2022AbstractThis chapter argues that the contrast between Strict and Non-strict NC languages lies in the fact that, in Strict NC languages, every overt negative element carries an uninterpretable negative feature [uNEG], and the only negative element carrying an interpretable negative feature [iNEG] is the abstract negative operator.

2009This paper takes up the long-standing questions on the nature of negative concord items (NCIs) in Southern Romance, with special reference to Italian. NCIs in Italian present two riddles for the theory of syntax and semantics, viz., the preverbal- postverbal asymmetry and the apparent semantic ambiguity.
