Cross-cultural decoding of positive and negative nonlinguistic emotion vocalizations

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
Which emotions are associated with universally recognized nonverbal signals? We address this issue by examining how reliably nonlinguistic vocalizations (affect bursts) can convey emotions across cultures. Actors from India, Kenya, Singapore and USA were

mGluR5 in ECCCK to BLA Circuit Modulates Depressive‐Like Phenotypes through CCK Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of mGluR5 and CCK signaling contributes to major depressive disorder, yet circuit‐level mechanisms remain unclear. Here, the ECCCK→BLA pathway is identified as a critical regulator of affective behavior. mGluR5 modulates synaptic function and CCK signaling within this circuit, controlling stress susceptibility and depressive‐like states ...

Emotions in Litigation Contests [PDF]

open access: yes

The Effects of Discrete Emotions on Risky Decision Making [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Contrary to the dominant view that generally equates feelings with poor thinking, converging evidence indicates that decisions – including those involving risk – are influenced by affective experiences.

18β‐Glycyrrhetinic Acid and a Nano‐Liposomal Formulation Alleviate Depression‐Like Behaviors via the Microglial mTOR‐Autophagy‐NLRP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a novel zebrafish‐based inflammatory screening strategy, we screened and identified 18β‐glycyrrhetinic acid (18β‐GA) as a promising anti‐inflammatory candidate. We uncover a microglial mTOR–autophagy–NLRP3 axis that constitutes the mechanistic core of 18β‐GA–mediated neuroprotection.

Transcriptomic and Neuroimaging Decoding of Brain‐Immune Crosstalk in Thyroid Eye Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employed an imaging transcriptomics framework integrating resting‐state fMRI with Allen Human Brain Atlas transcriptomic data, coupled with peripheral blood RNA sequencing, to decode brain‐immune crosstalk in thyroid eye disease. Frontal, parietal, subcortical, and brainstem regions were identified as key neuroimmune‐ vulnerable regions ...

Schooling Trajectories and the Development of Brain Dynamics: A Comparative Study of Montessori and Traditional Education

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.
