Negative ion beam extraction experiments on the KAERI negative ion source
Fusion Engineering and Design, 2016Abstract A small-scale test stand of a negative NBI source composed of a prototype negative ion source, an RF generator, and an HV power supply for negative ion beam extraction has been established. The magnetic filter and a beam extraction grid system with electron deflection magnets were designed for the prototype negative ion source.

Formation of Negative Ions by Negative-Ion Bombardment of Surfaces: A New Process
Nature, 1939EXPERIMENTS with a double mass-spectrograph have been described recently by one of us and R. Press1. These show conclusively that bombardment of a gas—contaminated surface with positive ions of one species can produce a spectrum of negative ions. In this work particular attention was directed to the process involved.

Ultraviolet negative-ion photoelectron spectroscopy of the chromium oxide negative ion
Chemical Physics Letters, 1996Abstract The photoelectron spectrum of CrO − is reported, with four electron states of CrO detected. The 5 Π ground state of CrO has an electron affinity of 1.221 ± 0.006 eV. An excited 3 Π state is also observed, which lies 8600 ± 40 cm −1 above the ground state. Two additional states of CrO, believed to be triplets, are observed at energies

3D modelling of negative ion extraction from a negative ion source
Nuclear Fusion, 2010The development of a suitable negative ion source constitutes a crucial step in the construction of the neutral beam injector of ITER. To fulfil the ITER requirements in terms of heating and current drive, the negative ion source should deliver 40 A of D−.
