Mixtures, compounds and inflations of negative multinomial distribution

open access: yes, 2017
The paper considers some relations between mixed, compound and inflated geometric and negative multinomial distributions. The dependence structure of multivariate random sums (compounds), discussed in this paper, is born to two factors, the equal number ...

α‐Synuclein Forms Distinct Micelle‐Like Assemblies at Low Ionic Strengths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At high ionic strength, α‐synuclein forms diverse assemblies, including oligomers, fibrils, and condensates. Here, we show that at low ionic strength, α‐synuclein adopts a distinct, low‐abundance assembly state. These assemblies maintain a constant size above a critical concentration and do not coalesce, suggesting a micelle‐like organization ...

On the Exchangeable Multinomial Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We derive an expression of the joint distribution of exchangeable multinomial random variables. In the literature this problem has mainly been addressed by the use of an extension of de Finetti\u27s theorem for binary data.

Low Latency Global Carbon Budget Reveals Late 2024 Carbon Losses and Contrasting Early 2025 Land Sink Recovery Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Low latency carbon budget estimates for July 2024–June 2025 combine atmospheric CO2 growth rates, fossil emissions, ocean uptake, DGVM land fluxes, and OCO‐2 inversions. The budget shows that late‐2024 land carbon losses dominate the annual anomaly, while early‐2025 recovery differs between bottom‐up models and top‐down inversions, especially in ...

High‐Throughput Screening for Accelerated Oxide Glass Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screening platform is presented that allows for accelerating laboratory glass synthesis by a factor of 102, using multicomponent stereolithographic printing. Automatic sample evaluation is achieved via Raman spectroscopy and similarity analysis without any sample preparation.

Enhanced High Dimensionality and the Information Processing Capacity in Interfered Spin Wave‐Based Reservoir Computing, Achieved With Eight Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Physical reservoir computing (PRC) based on spin wave interference has demonstrated high computational performance, yet room for improvement remains. In this study, we fabricated this concept PRC with eight detectors and evaluated the impact of the number of detectors using a chaotic time series prediction task.

Highly‐Uniform Passive Crossbar Arrays of Resistive Switching Random Access Memory (RRAM) for In‐Memory Computing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Passive resistive memory arrays promise efficient in‐memory computing but suffer from sneak paths and programming variability. Here, highly uniform 32 × 32 passive RRAM crossbars are programmed with multilevel precision below 3% error and 99.5% yield.

A Dual‐Branch Flux‐Based Extended Memristor Model With Machine‐Learning‐Assisted Calibration

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Multilayer oxide memristors integrated in crossbar arrays are described through a dual‐branch, flux‐controlled compact model. A three‐stage calibration workflow combining Latin hypercube sampling, Bayesian optimization, and gradient‐based refinement extracts device parameters from experimental data.

Symbolic Cholesky decomposition of the variance--covariance matrix of the negative multinomial distribution

open access: yes
This note shows a symbolic formula for the square-root-free Cholesky decomposition of the variance--covariance matrix of the negative multinomial distribution. A similar decomposition was given for the multinomial case by Tanabe and Sagae (1984).
