The Role of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in Patients with Kidney Transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Kidney transplantation is the best treatment modality for patients with end-stage renal disease. Wound healing is impaired in these patients, and factors such as immunosuppression, older age and comorbidities have a negative impact on wound healing ...

Silicone-coated non-woven polyester dressing enhances reepithelialisation in a sheep model of dermal wounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) also known as V.A.C. (Vacuum-assisted closure), is widely used to manage various type of wounds and accelerate healing. NPWT has so far been delivered mainly via opencell polyurethane (PU) foam or medical gauze.

Self‐Cascade Catalytic Reaction–Assisted Apoptosis/Calcicoptosis/Ferroptosis Induction with Microsphere‐Aggregated Hydrogels in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hyaluronic acid‐dopamine‐based intra‐crosslinked microsphere including cisplatin (HPC MS) is fabricated by spray‐drying and calcium/iron ions are introduced for interparticle crosslinking. Designed microsphere‐aggregated hydrogel (MAH) system including cisplatin/CaO2/FeSO4 can provide apoptosis/calcicoptosis/ferroptosis‐mediated chemo/cascade ...

Engineered Peptides‐Based Hybrid‐Nested Microneedle Effectively Treat Biofilm‐Infected Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid‐nested microneedle/cryogel scaffold (MQW‐CMg‐MOF) is designed for efficient biofilm removal and accelerated healing of diabetic wounds. The scaffold shows substantial biofilm removal in vitro and in a preclinical diabetic swine biofilm‐infected wound model compared to the control.

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.
