Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Estimating cross-field particle transport at the outer midplane of TCV by tracking filaments with machine learning

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Cross-field transport of particles in the boundary region of magnetically confined fusion plasmas is dominated by turbulence. Blobs, intermittent turbulent structures with large amplitude and a filamentary shape appearing in the scrape-off layer (SOL ...

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

H-mode inhibition in negative triangularity tokamak reactor plasmas

open access: yes, 2022
Instability to high toroidal mode number ($n$) ballooning modes has been proposed as the primary gradient-limiting mechanism for tokamak equilibria with negative triangularity ($δ$) shaping, preventing access to strong H-mode regimes when $δ\ll0$. To understand how this mechanism extrapolates to reactor conditions, we model the infinite-$n$ ballooning ...

Copper Nanocrystallization in Anodic Oxide Films of Ti–Cu‐Based Bulk Metallic Glass and Its Effect on the Corrosion Resistance and Cytocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Viktoriia Shtefan, Thorgund Nemec, Ute Hempel, Annett Gebert and coworkers demonstrate that anodic treatment of Ti–Cu‐based metallic glass in a nontoxic pyrophosphate electrolyte forms a protective bilayered Ti/Zr‐oxide film enriched with Cu nanocrystals.

Overview of the JET results in support to ITER [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The 2014–2016 JET results are reviewed in the light of their significance for optimising the ITER research plan for the active and non-active operation. More than 60 h of plasma operation with ITER first wall materials successfully took place since its

Overview of results from the 2023 DIII-D negative triangularity campaign

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion
Negative triangularity (NT) is a potentially transformative configuration for tokamak-based fusion energy with its high-performance core, edge localized mode (ELM)-free edge, and low-field-side divertors that could readily scale to an integrated reactor ...

Slight Truncation Changes in Iron Oxide Nanocubes Strongly Affect Their Magnetic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Subtle variations in nanoparticle morphology can lead to significant changes in functional properties. An automated shape‐fitting method captures minor differences in corner truncation between iron oxide nanocubes of similar sizes synthesized under identical conditions, revealing pronounced disparities in their magnetic and hyperthermia behavior ...

Poset pinball, GKM-compatible subspaces, and Hessenberg varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper has three main goals. First, we set up a general framework to address the problem of constructing module bases for the equivariant cohomology of certain subspaces of GKM spaces.

Yangian Gelfand-Zetlin Bases, gl(N)-Jack Polynomials and computation of Dynamical Correlation Functions in the Spin Calogero-Sutherland Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We consider the gl(N)-invariant Calogero-Sutherland Models with N=1,2,3,... in a unified framework, which is the framework of Symmetric Polynomials.
