Orthogonal approach to independent component analysis using quaternionic factorization
Independent component analysis (ICA) is a popular technique for demixing multichannel data. The performance of a typical ICA algorithm strongly depends on the presence of additive noise, the actual distribution of source signals, and the estimated number

Abstract In recent years, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) has emerged as a valuable tool for measuring water level change (WLC) to study hydrodynamic processes in coastal wetlands. However, the highly dynamic wet atmosphere conditions common in these areas have a significant impact on InSAR observations, producing errors in the ...

On the anti‐intercept features of noise radars
An evaluation of the related Low Probability of Detection, of Intercept and of Exploitation is presented for Continuous‐Emission Noise Radar waveforms with different operational parameters, that is, “tailored”, and with various “degrees of randomness”. The effect of “tailoring” is analysed with prospects for future work.

Abstract Estimating clean seismic signals from noisy single‐channel records is a hot research topic in the field of microseismic data processing. Due to the existence of strong random noise, the signal‐to‐noise ratio of such data is low, presenting a challenge for signal restoration.

Abstract Volcanoes produce a variety of seismic signals and, therefore, continuous seismograms provide crucial information for monitoring the state of a volcano. According to their source mechanism and signal properties, seismo‐volcanic signals can be categorized into distinct classes, which works particularly well for short transients.

To address the problem that the traditional convolutional neural network (CNN) cannot fully extract the fault feature information in a single channel and the accuracy of hydraulic system fault diagnosis based on a single signal is not high, a fault diagnosis method combining dual‐channel CNN and improved D‐S evidence theory is proposed.

Life Is Simple—Biologic Complexity Is an Epiphenomenon
Life originated from unicellular organisms by circumventing the Second Law of Thermodynamics using the First Principles of Physiology, namely negentropy, chemiosmosis and homeostatic regulation of calcium and lipids. It is hypothesized that multicellular

Presentation of a New Formulation of Negentropy : 2nd Report, Description of Work by Negentropy
The concept of negentropy was introduced with the intention of physically describing such terms as information, order, non-equilibrium and potential of work. Negentropy according to the new definition which was proposed in the preceding report represents those terms more adequately than according to the former definition. Among those terms, this report

NEGENTROPY FLOW IN COMMUNITIES OF PLANKTON1 [PDF]
A model generalizing negentropy flux in plankton communities is presented. The biomass information equivalent B(I) at time t is urn:x-wiley:00243590:media:lno1961610026:lno1961610026-math-0001 where π (gross production) and ρ (respiration) represent rates of negentropy gain and loss, respectively.
