Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. (Nymphaeaceae), is a medical plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. Officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia are: Lianzi, Semen Nehimbinis, the dried mature seeds of N. nucifera, harvested in the fall, used as a sedative and tonic.

Nelumbo lutea genome sequencing
2023Young leaves from the mature plant germinated from a N. lutea seed from the USA (longitude=-85°2’21’’, latitude=30°74’10’’) were harvested for DNA sequencing. Total genomic DNA was isolated from fresh leaves using the DNeasy Plant Kit (Qiagen, Germany).
