Naturally‐occurring nematicides of plant origin: two decades of novel chemistries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 2, Page 540-571, February 2025.
A review of structure–activity correlations for 262 plant‐derived nematicidal compounds for controlling plant parasitic nematodes is presented. Chemical structures, sources, and isolation procedures are summarized based on the major chemical groups. Abstract Plant‐parasitic nematodes are among the most destructive plant pathogens, resulting in a global

Expansion of Adhesion Genes Drives Pathogenic Adaptation of Nematode-Trapping Fungi

open access: yesiScience, 2020
Summary: Understanding how fungi interact with other organisms has significant medical, environmental, and agricultural implications. Nematode-trapping fungi (NTF) can switch to pathogens by producing various trapping devices to capture nematodes.

Is the local environment more important than within‐host interactions in determining coinfection?

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 93, Issue 10, Page 1541-1555, October 2024.
Coinfection dynamics in many systems are affected by within‐host interactions, via either direct or indirect mechanisms. Our study shows that this is not always the case, as we highlight a role of the local environment in determining coinfection in multiple host species.

Controle biológico de helmintos parasitos de animais: estágio atual e perspectivas futuras Biological control of helminth parasites of animals: current stage and future outlook

Fungi–Nematode Interactions: Diversity, Ecology, and Biocontrol Prospects in Agriculture

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2020
Fungi and nematodes are among the most abundant organisms in soil habitats. They provide essential ecosystem services and play crucial roles for maintaining the stability of food-webs and for facilitating nutrient cycling.

Biotic interactions in soil and dung shape parasite transmission in temperate ruminant systems: An integrative framework

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 34, Issue 3, April 2024.
Abstract Gastrointestinal helminth parasites undergo part of their life cycle outside their host, such that developmental stages interact with the soil and dung fauna. These interactions are capable of affecting parasite transmission on pastures yet are generally ignored in current models, empirical studies and practical management. Dominant methods of

Sobrevivência e manutenção da atividade nematofágica do fungo Arthrobotrys musiformis submetido à liofilização Survival and predatory activity of Arthrobotrys musiformis submitted to lyophilization

Abundance and diversity of fungal endophytes isolated from monk fruit (Siraitia grosvenorii) grown in a Canadian research greenhouse

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 5, Issue 2, April 2024.
Monk fruit plants are a rich source of fungal endophytes with the greatest abundance and diversity in leaves. This work has deepened our understanding of the intricate interactions between plants and fungi that sustain ecosystems and underpin plant health and resilience.
