A Neonate with Worms [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2008
Diagnosis: Dipylidium caninum infection. The sample tapeworm was M cm in length and was longer than it was wide (figure 1). On examination in the microbiology laboratory, it was determined that the segment was most consistent with D. caninum. Both the patient and his brother were treated with single doses of oral praziquantel (10 mg/kg).

“Therapies Through Gut:” Targeted Drug Delivery for Non‐Gastrointestinal Diseases by Oral Administration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 17, July 4, 2025.
Schematic illustration of the mechanism of targeted delivery of nanoparticles including 1) paracellular, 2) endolysosomal escape, 3) receptor mediated endocytosis, and 4) M cell mediated transport for non‐GI diseases by oral administration such as atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, and brain diseases. Abstract Oral drug delivery is a promising approach

Combination of Pirfenidone and Andrographolide Ameliorates Hepatic Stellate Cell Activation and Liver Fibrosis by Mediating TGF-β/Smad Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology
Background. Biliary atresia (BA) is a devastating congenital disease characterized by inflammation and progressive liver fibrosis. Activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) plays a central role in the pathogenesis of hepatic fibrosis.

Delivery of Islatravir via High Drug‐Load, Long‐acting Microarray Patches for the Prevention or Treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Islatravir‐loaded dissolving microarray patches (MAPs) provide a minimally invasive, long‐acting solution for HIV‐1 prevention and treatment. In rats, sustained islatravir delivery lasts up to three months, while in minipigs, efficacious plasma levels are detected for six days.

Reducing neonatal mortality associated with preterm birth: gaps in knowledge of the impact of antenatal corticosteroids on preterm birth outcomes in low-middle income countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Global Network’s Antenatal Corticosteroids Trial (ACT), was a multi-country, cluster-randomized trial to improve appropriate use of antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) in low-resource settings in low-middle income countries (LMIC).

The developing human connectome project: A minimal processing pipeline for neonatal cortical surface reconstruction

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2017
The Developing Human Connectome Project (dHCP) seeks to create the first 4-dimensional connectome of early life. Understanding this connectome in detail may provide insights into normal as well as abnormal patterns of brain development.

Engineering Assembloids to Mimic Graft‐Host Skeletal Muscle Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 17, July 4, 2025.
This study develops a graft‐host skeletal muscle assembloid model combining neuromuscular organoids with tissue‐engineered constructs. Pre‐seeding decellularized muscles with myogenic cells enhances cell migration and axon invasion from the organoid. The model exhibits regenerative capacity following acute damage, advancing the understanding of human ...

Ventilatory Support, Extubation, and Cerebral Perfusion Changes in Pre-Term Neonates: A Near Infrared Spectroscopy Study

open access: yesNeurotrauma Reports
Early extubation is considered to be beneficial for pre-term neonates. On the other hand, premature extubation can cause lung derecruitment, compromised gas exchange, and need for reintubation, which may be associated with severe brain injury caused by ...
