Delayed presentation of jejunal atresia with multiple enteric fistula: A case report and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, 2022
A 6-month-old boy presented with features of intestinal obstruction. Laparotomy revealed Type IIIa jejunal atresia. The proximal and distal bowel loops were in continuity through multiple fistulae between the adjoining bowel loops.

Rectal bezoar: a rare cause of intestinal obstruction

open access: yes, 2023
Bezoars are conglomerates of undigested contents that accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract. They can have different compositions, such as fibers, seeds, vegetables (phytobezoars), hair (trichobezoars), and medication (pharmacobezoars).

Human Foetal Neuroblasts Exhibit BK Channel‐Dependent Membrane Voltage Oscillations upon Depolarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Primary cultures of neuroblasts isolated from the nucleus basalis of Meynert of 12‐weeks‐old human foetuses were prepared. Whole‐cell patch‐clamp recordings were performed by injecting a depolarizing stimulus current (+500 pA; 500 ms), and the membrane voltage recorded; this stimulus current evoked periodic‐like oscillations in membrane voltage ...

Loss of SHP1 in Spinal Astrocytes Triggers T‐Lymphocyte Infiltration and Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Dual‐Gene Edited Extracellular Vesicles Remodel the Redox Homeostasis to Inhibit Ferroptosis in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is driven by ferroptosis of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) as a core pathological mechanism. Nucleus pulposus progenitor cells (NPPCs), exhibiting stem cell‐like properties, yield extracellular vesicles (PEVs) with high affinity for NPCs and enable targeted phenotypic regulation.

Jejunal adenomyoma in a neonate, an extremely rare cause of neonatal bowel obstruction

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2022
We report a case of jejunal adenomyoma in a neonate, found during exploratory surgery for bilious vomiting and feeding intolerance. This is the first reported case of neonatal jejunal adenomyoma as an isolated cause of intestinal obstruction.

Intrasplenic Thymus Organogenesis from Injectable Tissue Fragments Restores Functional T‐Cell Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Clinical intramuscular thymus transplantation yields only short‐lived efficacy and marginal therapeutic benefits. Benefiting from the spleen's intrinsic strengths—rapid vascular perfusion, abundant developmental factors, and resident progenitors—the intrasplenic thymic grafts achieve robust thymic regeneration and substantial T‐cell reconstitution ...
