Schwann Cell Synthesized Cholesterol Orchestrates Peripheral Nerve Regeneration via Structural and IGF1‐Dependent Signaling Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Schwann cell FDFT1‐mediated cholesterol synthesis is essential for peripheral nerve regeneration via dual roles: as a structural component for myelin and as a metabolic signal that upregulates IGF1. IGF1 promotes axonal growth through paracrine action and enhances Schwann cell differentiation/ myelination via an intrinsic IGF1R ...

TRIM40 Drives Pathological Cardiac Hypertrophy and Heart Failure via Ubiquitination of PKN2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the E3 ligase TRIM40 as a key driver of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. TRIM40 binds PKN2 via its B‐box domain and, through its C29‐dependent catalytic activity, mediates K63‐linked ubiquitination of PKN2. This modification enhances PKN2 phosphorylation at Ser815, thereby driving hypertrophy.

A Universal Metal–Flavonoid Coating Strategy: Engineering Biomaterials for Diabetic Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Construction of metal–flavonoid functionalized coatings on conventional bone repair materials. A one‐pot method is used to directly construct multifunctional metal–flavonoid coatings on the surface of traditional bone repair materials by selecting metal ions with osteogenic/angiogenic properties and flavonoids with reactive oxygen species scavenging ...

Neonatal screening part 2: neonatal screening in Canada.

open access: yesCanadian family physician Medecin de famille canadien, 2013
Neonatal screening is a widely accepted, cost-effective method for early detection of various inborn errors of metabolism. This series of three articles examines different aspects of neonatal screening. In the first article, the author discussed general principles of screening and its function in the spectrum of diagnostic techniques for genetic ...
