Identification of Two Novel Small Compounds that Inhibit Liver Cancer Formation in Zebrafish and Analysis of Their Conjugation to Nanodiamonds to Further Reduce Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 2, Issue 12, December 2019., 2019
A zebrafish high‐throughput drug screening platform is developed for screening small molecule libraries for identifying candidate compounds that prevent hepatocellular carcinoma. High toxicity of these compounds is further reduced by conjugation with nanodiamonds (ND), highly biocompatible function‐based carriers.

Exogenous Antioxidants—Double‐Edged Swords in Cellular Redox State: Health Beneficial Effects at Physiologic Doses versus Deleterious Effects at High Doses

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 228-237, 2010., 2010
The balance between oxidation and antioxidation is believed to be critical in maintaining healthy biological systems. Under physiological conditions, the human antioxidative defense system including e.g., superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione (GSH) and others, allows the elimination of excess reactive ...
