COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Relapse of Pleomorphic Adenoma from Childhood to Adulthood: Case Report

open access: yesActa Clinica Croatica, 2017
Pleomorphic adenoma is rarely seen in childhood. After detailed literature search, we did not come across a case of frequent relapse of this benign tumor from childhood to adulthood. The World Health Organization defines relapse of pleomorphic adenoma as

Surgical recurrence of solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura treated with microwave (MW) thermoablation: A case report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2020
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) of the pleura is a rare neoplasm which is challenging for clinicians to treat and radiologists to diagnose. Herein, we report a case of recurrence of SFT of the pleura in a 77‐year‐old patient which was diagnosed and ...

Textiloma Mimicking a Recurrent High-Grade Astrocytoma: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Neurological Surgery Reports, 2020
Introduction Textiloma (Txm) is a nonmedical term that has been given to foreign body-related inflammatory pseudotumor arising from retained nonabsorbable cotton matrix that is either inadvertently or deliberately left behind during surgery, which may ...

A rare case of solitary fibrous tumor of the temporal region: 7-year-follow-up clinical-radiographic evaluation and literature review

open access: yesOral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases, 2022
Solitary fibrous tumor is a rare spindle-cell neoplasm of mesenchymal origin. In head and neck region, the tumors present slow-growing masses, often with local compressive symptoms. Although it is generally benign, malignant variants have been identified.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Radiofrequency ablation for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma: 10-year outcomes of local tumor progression vs intrahepatic distant recurrence

open access: yesInsights into Imaging
Objectives To compare the long-term outcome of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for local tumor progression (LTP) vs intrahepatic distant recurrence (IDR) in recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (rHCC), including cases with repeated LTP. Materials and methods

Clear cell sarcoma of the esophagus: A rare location

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Clear cell sarcoma of the esophagus is very rare. The etiology of this neoplasm remains unknown. Confirmed diagnosis requires histopathology with immunochemistry and molecular study.

When can we perform argon plasma coagulation for the treatment of gastric neoplasm?

open access: yes, 2023
Background & Aims: Argon plasma coagulation (APC) could be considered a treatment modality for small gastric neoplasms instead of endoscopic resection (ER). Our study investigated the clinical outcomes of APC for treating gastric neoplasms and associated

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...
