Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma with Type I Neurofibromatosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Type I neurofibromatosis is an autosomal dominant disorder that occurs in 1 of 3,000 births. It is characterized by multiple cutaneous neurofibromas, cafe-au-lait spots of the skin.

A molecular map of mesenchymal tumors

open access: yes, 2005
Background: Bone and soft tissue tumors represent a diverse group of neoplasms thought to derive from cells of the mesenchyme or neural crest. Histological diagnosis is challenging due to the poor or heterogenous differentiation of many tumors, resulting

Solitary fibrous tumour of the pleura presenting as a giant intrathoracic mass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Solitary fibrous tumours (SFTs) are relatively rare neoplasms thought to originate from the submesothelial connective tissue. SFTs have been described in a variety of sites, including the pleura, orbit, lower respiratory tract, peritoneal cavity and ...

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

PATHOLOGICAL STUDIES ON LIVER AND BILE DUCT TUMORS IN SUDANESE CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal
Due to their rare occurrence in bovine species, neoplasms of the liver and bile ducts were reported in few available researches. In Egypt, their prevalence in domestic animals was documented in a few records. An abattoir-based survey was conducted at Abu-

Large Lobular Capillary Hemangioma Associated with Ingrown Toenail: Histopathological Features and Case Report

open access: yesDermatopathology, 2022
Lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH-PG) is a type of pyogenic granuloma characterized by proliferating blood vessels that resemble conventional granulation tissue. Granulation tissue is very often seen in association with ingrown toenails.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Treatment of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma and Atypical Fibrous Xanthomas with Micrographic Surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Fibrous tumors of the soft tissue are usually benign, but some fibrous neoplasms such as dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX), and malignant fibrohistiocytoma (MFH) can be very destructive locally with a high recurrence ...

Giant Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Pleura in Two Cases

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine, 2019
Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura are rare neoplasms and account for less than 5% of all pleural tumors. They originate from mesenchimal cells of the submesothelial tissue of the pleura. They present as a discrete, pediculated and encapsulated tumor.
