Factors modulating 99mTc‐MAA planar lung dosimetry for 90Y radioembolization

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the accuracy and biases of predicted lung shunt fraction (LSF) and lung dose (LD) calculations via 99mTc‐macro‐aggregated albumin (99mTc‐MAA) planar imaging for treatment planning of 90Y‐microsphere radioembolization.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

COMP Report: CPQR technical quality control guidelines for use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography in radiation treatment planning

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Positron emission tomography with x‐ray computed tomography (PET/CT) is increasingly being utilized for radiation treatment planning (RTP). Accurate delivery of RT therefore depends on quality PET/CT data. This study covers quality control (QC) procedures required for PET/CT for diagnostic imaging and incremental QC required for RTP.

Multiple metachronous and synchronous malignancies with lung and thorax involvement. Report of two cases

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2018
Multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMN) is an uncommon phenomenon, while the diagnosis of such conditions is very significant. Considering that the strategy of the treatment is determined by the histological type of the tumor, practitioners should be

Forecasting Leading Death Causes in Australia using Extended CreditRisk$+$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Recently we developed a new framework in Hirz et al (2015) to model stochastic mortality using extended CreditRisk$^+$ methodology which is very different from traditional time series methods used for mortality modelling previously. In this framework, deaths are driven by common latent stochastic risk factors which may be interpreted as death causes ...

Composite lymphoma of concurrent T zone lymphoma and large cell B cell lymphoma in a dog. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundEvolution of indolent to aggressive lymphoma has been described in dogs but is difficult to distinguish from the de novo development of a second, clonally distinct lymphoma.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Uniqueness of radiomic features in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The uniqueness of radiomic features, combined with their reproducibility, determines the reliability of radiomic studies. This study is to test the hypothesis that radiomic features extracted from a defined region of interest (ROI) are unique to the underlying structure (e.g., tumor). Approach Two cohorts of non‐small cell lung cancer (

Analysis of Characteristics and Risk Factors of Patients with Single Gastric Cancer and Synchronous Multiple Gastric Cancer among 14,603 Patients

open access: yesGut and Liver
Background/Aims: Synchronous multiple gastric cancer (SMGC) accounts for approximately 6% to 14% of gastric cancer (GC) cases. This study aimed to identify risk factors for SMGC.

Optimal prevention strategies for chronic diseases in a compartmental disease trajectory model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In countries with growing elderly populations, multimorbidity poses a significant healthcare challenge. Despite its pressing development, important questions remain on how to model the development of multimorbidity. Leveraging a comprehensive dataset from approximately 45 million hospital stays spanning 17 years in Austria, we propose a compartmental ...
