NEOTYPIFICATION OF RUBUS CUNEIFOLIUS PURSH (ROSACEAE)

The distribution, nomenclature, and taxonomy of Rubus cuneifolius Pursh are briefly reviewed. Since there is no known original material for the name R. cuneifolius, a neotype is chosen using recently collected material from southern New Jersey, an area where Frederick T. Pursh most likely observed the species.

Neotypification of Pancratium sanctae-mariae (Amaryllidaceae)

The genus Pancratium was established by Linnaeus (1762: 417). This genus is represented by ca. 20 species, mainly distributed in the Canary Islands, West Africa, Mediterranean, and Namibia (Mabberley 2008). Hooker (1892) enumerated 6 species and Karthikeyan et al. (1989) enumerated 7 species from India.

Neotypification of the name Rosa agrestis (Rosaceae)

Gaetano Savi (1769–1844) worked at the University of Pisa and was a prominent figure among Italian botanists of the XIX century. He published about 75 scientific papers, primarily devoted to floristic researches and taxonomical investigations. During his career, he described 89 taxa of vascular plants (6 genera and 83 species).
