Tumbuhan Kantong semar (Nepenthes sp.) merupakan tumbuhan karnivora yang mampu mencernanya organisme yang tertangkap dalam kantungnya. Beberapa jenis tumbuhan kantung semar diketahui hidup diwilayah Cagar Alam Lembah Harau Sumatera Barat. Beberapa jenis bakteri diketahui dapat bertahan dalam cairan kantung dan menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri.
