Essential Oils and Their Multifunctional Activities Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Current Evidence and Perspectives

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Essential oils show multifunctional activity against multidrug‐resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa by targeting bacterial membranes, quorum sensing, biofilm formation, virulence traits, and antibiotic susceptibility. Their translational potential depends on standardized composition, optimized delivery systems, safety assessment, and clinical validation ...

Molluscicidal activity of Nerium indicum bark [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1998
The molluscicidal activity of Nerium indicum bark against Lymnaea acuminata snails was studied. The toxicity of different bark preparations was both time and dose dependent. The 24-h LC50 of the lyophilized aqueous extract of bark was 34.5 mg/l whereas that of lyophilized boiled water extract was 42.5 mg/l.

Henry Trimen: Under‐appreciated pioneer in the typification of Linnaean plant names?

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract In 1887, Henry Trimen published a paper summarising the contents of the Hermann Herbarium, in what is now the Natural History Museum, London (BM), in terms of the plant names published by Linnaeus. Trimen referred to the Hermann specimens as types of Linnaeus's names.

Nerium oleander L.

open access: yes, 2017
66. Nerium oleander L., Sp. Pl.: 209. 1753 [cited in Nat. Hist. II(4): 389. 1775]. Notes. – A specimen in the Java herbarium is in L (L-898.111-57). It represents material of Plumeria rubra L. (see Nat. Hist. II(2): 178. 1774) (Fig. 2). Two leaves and an inflorescence are mounted with a mid-18th century pot, so far only known from this sheet (G ...

Uncovering the Key Factors Influencing Phytochemical and Phytopharmacological Properties During Medicinal Plant Processing

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
From farm to pharma, this review details the engineering of quality in medicinal plants through a science‐driven approach: it first elucidates how genetic and environmental factors inscribe the plant's phytochemical and phytopharmacological profile before harvest, and then dissects the postharvest techniques and technologies—chemical and thermal pre ...

Cardenolide‐Engineered Extracellular Vesicles Augment Drug Uptake and Cytotoxicity in Non‐small Cell Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 3, 9 February 2026.
Cardenolide‐functionalized extracellular vesicles enable targeted delivery of the chemotherapeutic doxorubicin to A549 lung cancer cells by binding Na+/K+‐ATPase, which is overexpressed in these cells. Surface‐modified, drug‐loaded EVs exhibit enhanced cytotoxicity compared to unmodified EVs and free drug, suggesting this system may lower the effective
