MERRILL (1935) and BEENTJE (1982) note that this is a later homonym for Nerium scandens L. However, we can find no evidence that the Linnean name was ever validly published which would mean the LOUREIRO name is not a later homonym.

Chemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1978 Digitoxigenin α-L-oleandroside and 5α-adynerin were isolated from the oven-dried leaves of Nerium odorum, and the structures were elucidated with the aid of 13C nuclear magnetic resonance and finally by the conversion into the glycoside from oleandrin and by the synthesis of 5α-adynerigenin, respectively.
