Math Anxiety and Its Relations to Arithmetic Fluency and Number Processing: Evidence From Finnish, Finnish‐Swedish, and Swedish Fourth‐Grade Students

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 504-518, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The negative relationship between math anxiety and mathematics performance is well established. However, factors such as how math anxiety is operationalized, the specific mathematical domain, gender, and cultural context may influence this relationship.

Hidden lineages in the African Sky Islands: A taxonomic reevaluation of Afrocarduus (Compositae)

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, Volume 64, Issue 2, Page 401-420, March 2026.
Species delimitation is crucial for biodiversity studies. Using Hyb‐Seq and phylogenomics, we reassessed Afrocarduus, endemic to Afromontane and Afroalpine regions, uncovering 16 evolutionary lineages (2.3 Mya). Morphological data support their distinctiveness, with acaulescence evolving independently twice. The traditionally broad A.

Dung beetles do not profit from enhanced spatial heterogeneity in temperate production forests: A forest manipulation experiment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 2, February 2026.
Our results suggest that dung beetles do not profit from management increasing the structural heterogeneity of production forests. Future warming and openings in forest structure might have negative effects on dung beetles, and consequently on the ecosystem services they provide in production forests.

Potential climate warming effects on the distribution of an invasive alien pest species

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 113-125, February 2026.
Drosophila suzukii (SWD) has low resistance to heat waves. The incidence of SWD differed between Illyric‐ and Pannonian climate zone. Desert days (frequency) only increased in the Pannonian zone. Abstract Climate warming can be a powerful driver for the establishment and further spread of alien species by lowering the abiotic resistance of native ...

Who Is Served First? Intraspecific Traits That Drive Arrival at Food Resource in Two Phanaeus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeinae) Species

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Intra‐ and interspecific interactions may structure complex competitive scenarios in which the arrival time at a resource may play a key role in determining how individuals and populations are maintained. The speed and efficiency by which the dung beetles locate and colonise dung pads, which comprise an ephemeral and randomly distributed ...

Oxidative stress in oysters (Crassostrea corteziensis) exposed to naphthalene

open access: yesInvertebrate Survival Journal, 2014
Naphthalene is a frequent pollutant in aquatic ecosystems that can affect the physiology of organisms such as molluscs. Oyster Crassostrea corteziensis is an endemic species from the tropical West Pacific, with both ecological and economical importance ...

Allometric Scaling in Environmental DNA Concentration of Japanese Eel Anguilla japonica Confirmed Under Laboratory and Natural Conditions 日本鳗 (Anguilla japonica) 环境 DNA 浓度中的异速生长标度在实验室和自然条件下得到证实

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 675-685, December 2025.
We demonstrated that Anguilla japonica eDNA concentration was allometrically scaled with their body size in both the laboratory and riverine environments. Integrating body size allometry has the potential to improve population abundance estimates in the field, whereas further clarification is required for understanding eDNA production mechanisms ...
