Rewriting nested XML queries using nested views [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2006 ACM SIGMOD international conference on Management of data, 2006
We present and analyze an algorithm for equivalent rewriting of XQuery queries using XQuery views, which is complete for a large class of XQueries featuring nested FLWR blocks, XML construction and join equalities by value and identity. These features pose significant challenges which lead to fundamental extension of prior work on the problems of ...

Application and Progress of Ion Chromatography in Food Analysis

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
Ion chromatography (IC) is based on the differential promotion of the substance to be tested on the ion chromatography column, so as to separate different substances, and then determine the content of the substance to be tested through the detection ...

'Should conditionals be emergent ...': asyndetic conditionals in English and German as a Challenge to Grammaticalization Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The present article examines asyndetic or conjunctionless conditionals in German and English. According to Jespersen’s Model (1940), this construction arose diachronically from a paratactic discourse sequence with a polar interrogative, but more recently

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Probing paper ageing by label-free fluorescence lifetime microscopy

open access: yesScientific Reports
Paper ageing is a complex and irreversible process that critically affects materials ranging from packaging to cultural heritage artefacts. While both invasive and non-invasive analytical techniques exist to assess the deterioration of paper, many ...

Can Greater Flamingo Recognize Fertile vs. Infertile Egg? A Single Case Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fertility of captive flamingos varies between flocks, species and seasons. Individuating infertile eggs could be helpful to facilitate important decisions.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Measuring pH in insulin secretory granules by phasor-based fluorescence lifetime imaging of a genetically encoded sensor

open access: yesCommunications Biology
It is widely accepted that the pH of insulin granules is acidic, and that its active regulation during granule maturation plays a role in the process of insulin secretion by β-cells. Yet, a calibrated measurement of the absolute granule pH with organelle

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...
