SUPER: Upcycling Genetic Parts for Precise Gene Expression Control, Leakage Minimization, and Genetic Circuit Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To precisely modulate natural and synthetic regulatory parts, SUPER is introduced as a sophisticated and tunable controller of genetic devices without requiring sequence modification on the target. SUPER enhances dynamic range of RNA‐, chemical‐, temperature‐, and protein‐responsive biosensors up to 1011%, and converts biosensors to cover an expanded ...

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

Characterization and phylogenetic analysis of the chitinase gene from the Helicoverpa armigera single nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A putative chitinase gene was identified within the fragment EcoRI-K of the Helicoverpa armigera single-nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearNPV, also called HaSNPIV) genome.

Thermally Gated Dual‐Cascade Nanozyme for Enhanced Mild‐Temperature Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive cascade nanozyme (Ru‐GOx‐PNN) synergistically enhances mild photothermal therapy by dual suppression of HSP70 through ROS‐induced lipid peroxidation and ATP depletion. This intelligent system effectively overcomes thermotolerance and amplifies apoptosis, offering a safe and precise strategy for tumor treatment.

First-principle molecular dynamics with ultrasoft pseudopotentials: parallel implementation and application to extended bio-inorganic system

open access: yes, 2003
We present a plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential implementation of first-principle molecular dynamics, which is well suited to model large molecular systems containing transition metal centers.

The role of the jaw subdomain of peptidoglycan glycosyltransferases for lipid II polymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Bacterial peptidoglycan glycosyltransferases (PGT) catalyse the essential polymerization of lipid II into linear glycan chains required for peptidoglycan biosynthesis.

NIR Light‐Driven Photocatalytic Antibacterial Hydrogels for Synergistic MRSA Biofilm Eradication and Wound Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The nanohybrid hydrogel (Fe‐BOS@C/H Gel) is composed of Fe‐Bi2O2‐XS (Fe‐BOS) photocatalysts and CS‐ADH/OHA (C/H) hydrogel. Fe‐BOS photocatalysts achieve near‐infrared (NIR) light‐driven antibacterial photocatalytic/mild photothermal therapy (APCT/MPTT), effectively eliminating methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilms. The degradation

Adaptive plasticity of killifish (Fundulus heteroclitus) embryos: dehydration-stimulated development and differential aquaporin-3 expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
13 pages, 7 figures, 3 tablesEmbryos of the marine killifish Fundulus heteroclitus are adapted to survive aerially. However, it is unknown if they are able to control development under dehydration conditions.
