Nested PCR for the Detection of Cryptosporidium parvum
Parasitology Today, 1999In their recent review, Morgan and Thompson1xMorgan, U.M. and Thompson, R.C.A. Parasitol. Today. 1998; 14: 241–245Abstract | Full Text | Full Text PDF | PubMed | Scopus (48)See all References1 described the pitfalls of using nested PCR for the detection of the diarrhoea-causing protozoan, Cryptosporidium parvum, in faecal samples or in waste or surface

Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2019Nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is used in situations in which it is necessary to increase the sensitivity and/or specificity of PCR, for example, when amplifying a particular member of a polymorphic gene family or when amplifying a cDNA copy of an mRNA present at very low abundance in a clinical specimen containing a heterogeneous population of

We tested three PCR based methodologies to detect adenoviruses associated with cultivated oysters. Conventional-PCR, nested-PCR, and integrated cell culture-PCR (ICC/PCR) were first optimized using oysters seeded with know amounts of Adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5).

Blackhead, also known as enterohepatitis, is caused by a protozoan parasite called Histomonas meleagridis. Clinical symptoms are nonspecific. Until now, diagnosis has been mainly based on postmortem lesions and microscopical and histopathological examination.

Application of nested-PCR technique for the diagnosis of tuberculosis
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000A test-system based on amplification of IS 986 fragment (nested-PCR) was developed for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. bovis in different biological samples. We constructed external primers and selected appropriate amplifications parameters (annealing temperatures for states I and II, the number of cycles for each amplification stage,

NESTED-PCR ASSAYS FOR DETECTION OF PHYTOPLASMAS IN STRAWBERRY
Acta Horticulturae, 1997Flower and fruit virescence and phyllody are known to be associated with the presence of phytoplasmas in symptomatic tissues. During surveys in North and South Italy symptomatic and asymptomatic strawberry samples were examined by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to verify the presence of phytoplasmas using 16S ribosomal DNA primers.

Detection of bovine gammaherpesviruses by a nested duplex PCR
Journal of Virological Methods, 2004The two bovine gammaherpesviruses (Alcelaphine herpesvirus 1, AlHV-1; Bovine herpesvirus 4, BoHV-4) are distributed worldwide in cattle populations. Since the animals are frequently infected latently with no or low seropositivity, a DNA based diagnostic method would be useful for surveys and detection of these viruses.

Multiplex nested PCR for Brazilian Alphavirus diagnosis
Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2004A reverse-transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) and a multiplex nested PCR were developed for the rapid detection and identification of 14 Brazilian alphaviruses. Using Alphavirus genus-specific primers in a RT-PCR, we obtained amplified products of 434 bp. Species-specific primers were selected and simultaneously tested in a multiplex nested PCR.

Detection of HPV Transcripts by Nested RT-PCR
2005Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are etiologic for the development of cervical cancer and its precursor lesions, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Nearly all cervical carcinomas (CaCx) harbor HPV DNA, but the presence of HPV alone is not indicative of the future development of neoplasia.
